A/N: So, after watching Seven the Hard Way 102 million times, I decided to write a story based on what happened in the future. Obviously, this story is going to be different than what was shown on the actual episode. For instance, Cory and Topanga's child is Riley (not that other child's name that I cringe at every time I hear it in the episode.) and she's four. Also, everyone are still friends...just not good ones. Eric is still the same though: crazy. By the way, this is going to be a short chapter just to start out the story.

The year was 2006, six years after Cory, Topanga, Shawn, and Eric moved away from their hometown and to New York City to start a new chapter of their lives; five years after Cory and Topanga's daughter was born. Now, they're back in Philadelphia for their long time teacher's retirement party.

Spring was beautiful as the beginning of May rolled around. The flowers began to bloom, butterflies began to roam around the busy city, and the breeze felt warmer. The only downfall was the constant rain showers.

Four year old, Riley, looked out the side window of the car door and examined the streaks of rain that blurred out the outside world. She sighed. She hated when it rained on car trips. She wasn't able to watched the scenery go by as her and her parents sang along to old songs. And although her parents still played the same old songs, it didn't feel the same. Riley just tuned them out and listened to the pitter-patter of the rain instead.

"Mommy, why is it raining?" she asked, frowning as Topanga turned around in her seat.

"I know you don't like the rain, honey. Unfortunately, we can't control if it rains or not."

Riley pouted and crossed her arms, almost dramatically. Topanga laughed and shook her head as she looked straight. Her daughter's humor was what made trips up to Philadelphia better, especially this trip. They were going for Mr. Feeny's retirement party and she knew her and Cory were going to see the people they hadn't talked to since Riley was born. The people she hadn't kept in touch with lately. The people she calls her friends.

Topanga looked back at Riley once more and watched as she slowly closed her eyes. A smile formed on her face and turned to look at her husband, who shared the same smile as he hummed to the song that played quietly over the radio. All she needed was the affection of her husband and daughter to make this trip a good one.
