Suddenly I was in a street. A street I knew but didn't. I recognized the buildings. And the commotion at the other end of the street. I knew where I was.

Red lightning coursed over my body. I'd seen this type of light before and I recognized it as alchemy. I always loved Fullmetal Alchemist but this was not where I wanted to be in this world. I loved alchemy and everything it could do but I was never smart enough to even begin understanding how to do it myself. But at this moment I knew exactly what it was doing. I could feel my energy, my very life force, draining away. I looked around and saw everyone else slumping and falling as well. The same red lightning flitting over their skin.

The Promised Day.

I was on the ground. When did I lay down? I looked further down the road and saw the Fullmetal Alchemist himself, Edward Elric fighting Father in a crater of destruction.

My vision blurred as I started to fall asleep. Yes. Sleep. That's all I'm doing. I'm going to sleep and I'll wake up again soon. I barely noticed the shadow of a boulder as it soared towards me. I closed my eyes as I succumbed to sleep. Then there was pain as I was crushed under the rock.

Then nothing.

Then white.

Blinding white.

And I looked up to see a looming black door, The Gate, and a grinning white figure, Truth.

Finally Truth spoke in his hundred voices.

"Welcome to Death. Did you have a nice nap?"
