"Baby?"
"Hm?"
"Come out here for a second," Kendall called me from the backyard of our cozy house.
"Can't, baby. I'm working."
"C'mon, just for a bit," he pleaded.
I relented at the tone of his voice, placing my pen down and absentmindedly tossing my glasses onto the kitchen table in front of me before making my way outside. Stepping out onto the deck, my mouth immediately curved into a smile at the sight before me. Dainty lights were strung up along the veranda, giving the evening an evanescent glow.
"Ken, it's...it's beautiful," I managed to get out, walking forward to take his outstretched hand.
"Almost as beautiful as you," he grinned at me, pulling me into his arms and leading me further out in the yard.
"Cheesy," I giggled, turning to face him and draping my arms over his shoulders. He rested his hands on my hips and nuzzled his nose against mine as Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" began flowing out of the open windows of the house. "How did you-"
"Shh, don't question it," Kendall smiled at me, gently swaying us back and forth to the music. He started singing along, his smooth voice and the warm air making me inadvertently close my eyes and move closer to him. His soft lips met mine as my favorite line of the song filled my ears.
"LA kinda blocks out the stars, so I made us our own," my handsome blonde spoke in my ear, chuckling a little.
"It's perfect, baby," I said softly, afraid to break the silence. Resting my head against his chest, I sighed happily at the steady beating of his heart, my favorite lullaby. We wrapped our arms around eachother and stood there in the warm evening air, just taking the moment in.
It was simple. It was perfect. It was love.
