Disclaimer: I do not own 100 or it's characters. :D I'm just a huge fan of this show and I couldn't resist posting this. ;)
I just have to make a quick adjustment. In this story, Clarke Griffin is in lockup for a year and a half before the start of the first season, and Octavia Blake has been in lockup for six months. I know it's a little detour, but I hope you can bear with me. ^_^ Thank you all in advance for reading!
Enjoy! ^_^
Breaking Point
Prologue: Ivory Tower
Three weeks in lock up, and it was already driving Clarke over the edge of sanity. Her little room in solitary was too quiet, all she could hear was the breathing of her guard.
Her guard.
He had never introduced himself, but he was always there. He stood beside the door, staring at her without moving for hours.
It hadn't started out like this; prisoners were rarely issued 24/7 surveillance, but as she mentioned before…. Clarke was tipping over the edge. Her third day in hell, she sent the guard in charge of rations to the hospital unit. A fun little surprise for her mother, she would imagine.
This guard, her guard, was there to keep her 'safe' from herself.
Two months had passed since she'd been locked up; they never let her out of solitary. Her emotions were wild, and most days were a blur. Sometimes, she cried and others, she screamed.
If anyone were ever to ask, she would not give them a straight answer about it; why was she crying? It could have been because her father was executed, or because her best friend betrayed her… but she wasn't sure that was the case.
More than anything, she thought she cried because she could. They couldn't take her tears from her; screaming, crying, punching, she did it all for some attempt at releasing the burning pain in her chest.
…And the guard was always there to watch.
There was no security camera watching from the corner. She destroyed the cameras every time they were replaced… eventually Kane gave up. He probably pitied her.
The guard probably pitied her too.
His eyes, brown, were hidden behind thick lenses, and his face concealed by a tough, black mask. He wore the guard's uniform, which was just as dark as his mask, and carried both a gun and a baton at his side.
She wondered if she could make a steal for the gun, get out of here, and warn the people about what was coming.
He scoffed, as if reading her thoughts and replied lowly, "Try it." Those words confirmed her suspicions; she wouldn't make it two steps.
Clarke was babbling again, and she knew it. She had spent the last month babbling to him. She was sat at the floor by his side, away from his gun - he was suspicious of her intentions-, chattering away about her life. He didn't seem to mind, maybe he even enjoyed it; a little relief from the boredom that was his life.
Today, she told stories about her dad, stories about her mom, and even stories about her little sister. She knew she had his attention when she began to talk about that one.
There was a law in their home, the Ark, called the 'one child law'. Having a second child was strictly prohibited… but pregnancy was not always unavoidable. It had not been for her mother, Abby Griffin, who worked as head doctor and recognized the signs immediately.
Clarke was six when she overheard her parents arguing about it, and three weeks later she remembered her mother begging the chancellor not to take it away. Until then, it had been their little secret for four months, something for her to fanaticize about spoiling and loving. Until then, it had been alive.
Somehow, it felt right to spill her sorrows to this stranger; like he'd never judge her for her mistakes.
She broke into tears, not surprising – she was a teenager with way too much time to wallow-and the guard kneeled beside her. She heard rustling, and then something was pressed into her hand. A tissue.
"You'll make it through, princess."
She smiled, and tried to wipe her eyes, but the tissue was soon soaked through. He handed her another, "Thank you… who are you?"
"Bellamy Blake."
His hand held hers loosely, and they sat together on the cold floor. She wasn't sure how long they had sat there, and she didn't really care. He was sharing again. She loved to hear him tell stories about his childhood – and even more so to hear about Octavia… his little sister. His mother had hidden her under the floor.
His baritone filled the air, reminding her of the earth music that her father showed her as a child. "… not a guardsman yet, just a cadet. One day though right?"
"Did you always want to be a guard?" she asked, not to pass time, but because she was honestly curious. Her heart beat faster when she was near him, and she didn't feel so alone. He understood her.
She could see just enough of his eyes to see them crinkle, and he snarkily replied, "Did you want to spend your life in solitary?"
"Ass." She muttered, shoving against his arm playfully, "I was just curious."
"How about being less curious princess?" he snapped, and Clarke huffed, dropping her head to his shoulder. He squeezed her hand, the best apology she'd ever gotten for his 'attitude' and she smiled.
She liked him… a lot.
"Maybe someday."
Chalk. Holy hell he'd- "This is amazing Bellamy! Where did you get this?" Before she knew it, she was tackling him in a hug.
"I have my ways," he chuckled, and he hugged her back, albeit less tightly, "well, go on, you said you would paint me a picture."
Sarcasm, something Bellamy used often, but ignored when she reciprocated. She smiled anyway… he'd given her chalk.
Sometimes, she wished she could kiss Bellamy Blake.
...
A month later, she did.
Nearly Headless Niki
So there you have it folks, the prologue! I keep playing around with the idea that these two had some back story, so I decided to try it out! ;) Certain events will change because of the involvement, and lack of involvement from certain characters.
Don't want it to be an exact replica of the actual show, just with added Bellarke. ... though I admit I'd happily read that myself. ;P I've been hunting for Bellarke fanfics all day - and yesterday-. It was only after I was sure there was nothing else quitttteeee like what I wanted that I decided to post this fic. xD
First chapter should be up sometime tomorrow so if you're remotely interested I recommend you look out for it. ;)
Thank you so much for reading and please drop a review telling me what you thought!
