Disclaimer: I don't own Game of Thrones, though that would be wonderful.
Cersei walked to her room, pushing aside an oblivious servant as she went. That Tyrell harlot had the king in her clutches, just waiting to manipulate him with her trickery and ambition. She opened the door and slammed it behind her. The peasants fawned over her because she was young and flowery and gave them more than they deserved. She seemed to believe that people repaid kindness with kindness. Cersei smiled to herself. That logic would get the stupid girl killed. People take advantage of kindness. That was all there was to it.
Margaery walked to her room, smiling at a handmaiden, who followed her into her room without being asked. She sat in a pillowy chair and asked the young servant to please comb her hair. It wasn't too hard to show a little courtesy to others, and the payoff was massive. "What is your name?" She asked the servant girl sweetly. "Lana, if it please you, milady." She said. Margaery smiled back at her. Milady would soon be "your grace." Everyone loved her... Except the queen regent. It made sense, she was going to take the throne, be the queen. Cersei could have her killed, if she wanted. She chuckled. Cersei had warned her against the danger of Flea Bottom residents, but the only real danger was the woman herself.
Cersei looked in the mirror. She was smarter and more beautiful and more powerful than Joffrey's fiancé. Her smile faded as she looked closely at the light wrinkles on her face. She was getting older, she knew that. How long would she have her beauty? At what point would Margaery become prettier than she? She punched the end table in front of her. It wasn't fair. The girl would take her crown, win the affection of the kingdoms. The ignorant brat didn't know a thing about how to be queen!
Margaery looked up at the ceiling as she thought. She could try to be friendly with the queen, but in her heart she knew it was unlikely it would work. She would have to protect herself. Perhaps she could hire someone to keep an eye on the queen. It wasn't too important though. In just a small amount of time, she would be queen, and whether Cersei liked it or not, Margaery would be more powerful.
Across the narrow sea, at the same moment, Daenerys Targaryen looked at her dragons, and simply smiled.
