"Master." It was pretty much the time when Jane had braced herself up to talk straight to the most respected leader of the undead realms.
"Yes, Jane, my dear?" was the response she received. Aro was looking more perplexed, it was unusual for Jane to talk to him in this kind of fidgety manner.
"May I ask you something?" Jane managed to say, her eyes widening in unsuppressed curiosity. Her rosy lips were forming one of her sweetest smile, the one she show only when speaking privately to Aro.
"Do ask, Jane dear, clear all your doubts." Aro smilingly offered.
"Forgive me if it may sound a bit impolite, master, but it had been bothering me for quite a time now. And since you have allowed it, it's just about my confusion whether Master Caius has special powers like us or not." The question was delivered quite innocently from her, and Jane truly hoped that it would not inspire anger from the ancient vampire, she was just a little curious, after all.
Aro kept silent for a few minutes. He was not angry, to be sure, but the stifling silence had only assisted in increasing Jane's nervousness. "Well." Aro finally said, his eyebrows raised a trifle bit upwards, as he rests his dainty chin on his so called powdery palm. "Caius has none, to be exact."
Jane, actually, was not really surprised by the sudden revelation. In fact, she had expected the answer, as she knew the question only served as a more proper way of taking things through to a higher level of impropriety. All it takes were for him to clear her obviously lingering doubts.
It has been an unasked question between the walls of Volturi, each of them not bold enough to answer the real reason. Why was Caius elected as one of their leaders when he obviously has no special powers, as compared to his so called gifted brethren? It was all up to Jane to find out about this main unanswered question. Assuming herself a favorite, she braced herself up to ask.
She had kept her mouth closed and was eagerly waiting for Aro to explain her hanging uncertainty.
Her silent hopes were answered, for Aro did continue his half finished speech, "Caius, I see. We've got a long history running with him."
"I don't mind hearing about it." She chirped, almost too enthusiastically. It was very much clear that Jane was not aware of the full history of the ancient Volturi clan, which has last for more than centuries, and she believed that Aro was indeed the likeliest candidate to be asked about it, him being the creator of it.
"Now, I guess its story time now… so Caius, was it not? Lets see, it began far behind during the long past…" Aro's eyes got distant as nostalgia began to seize him.
