Well, I haven't written anything in a while, have I

Well, I haven't written anything in a while, have I? I decided to do a drabble this time. That's what they're called, right? I am so bad with fanfic vocab…

Oh, and it's from Rose's point of view, set after the Christmas Invasion. I know there have been a lot of fics about Rose's thoughts about the new Doctor, but I don't think anyone has taken this turn… Enjoy!

And it is going to be fantastic.

That's when she knew it would be okay. That's when she knew that this new Doctor was still the Doctor, still her Doctor. He just had a new face, that was all.

Up until then, Rose hadn't known what to think about this Doctor, the man who had taken the place of her Doctor. He had just left without much explanation, leaving a new man behind who said that they were the same person, that he was her Doctor. Rose hadn't been able to believe him. How could they be the same person? Why didn't he tell her? Doesn't he care enough about her to tell her these things?

And then, when Rose was just beginning to believe that it was still the Doctor, he collapses. He falls asleep, he won't wake up. She takes care of him, stays by his bedside, and he still won't wake up. He finally wakes up, for a few minutes, and just to give a warning, and then he goes back to sleep. Something about his regeneration. But he leaves her alone. He sleeps, while the aliens are invading Earth, and she is brought to the center of the war, and put right up with the creatures from another world. She risks her life, and he sleeps. The Doctor wouldn't just leave her like that, would he?

Questions fly through Rose's head, some curious, some that hurt to think about. I wonder what this regeneration thing is. How could be just leave her alone like this?

He finally wakes up. But he's all wrong. He's not her Doctor—he talks too fast, he's too cheery in the face of danger, he's too… different. He sticks his finger into a dish of blood and licks it. Her Doctor would never do that.

But then he changes. He gets serious. He challenges the leader to a duel. They fight, and the Doctor eventually kills him. The darker side of her Doctor comes out, and while Rose is slowly seeing this Doctor as the same Doctor, she still wishes for her Doctor.

It begins to snow. They all go outside; she and the Doctor stand a little of from Mickey and Jackie. Rose is nervous. Will this new Doctor still want her? Does she still want to travel with? Of course she does. She always will, she thinks to herself. No matter what he looks like. But does he want her?

He looks almost nervous too. He wants her to come with him, and she agrees. She's accepting this Doctor and her old Doctor to being the same man. And then he says it. The way he looks at her when he does it. He pauses, looks in her eyes and smiles. A smile she suddenly falls in love with. The new eyes that are so different, and yet so similar. The way he says it. He remembers. It sounds different in his voice, but still comforting and familiar. It's different, but the same. And in that moment, Rose realizes that this was still the Doctor. Still her Doctor.

Well… what do people think? I think I might have been able to write it better…

I've just always loved this line. If it was a novel that we are supposed to read for English, it would be highlighted and underlined in my book!
