Revision Number… 4?

Summary: 'Why of all people was I chosen to be stuck here? Why did Naraku choose me! Why not someone else? I wish I could go home' When two of Souta's friends go missing everyone assumes the worst. Who are the strange new demons in Sengoku, and how do they know the ending of Kagome's Feudal Fairytale?

This story takes place about 2 months before episode 124 of the InuYasha anime, which took place at Mt. Hakurei. That episode is essential to this fic, so those who know it keep it in mind, and for those who don't, BEWARE OF SPOILERS! I'll try not to put in too many, but revealing episode 124 is inevitable.

Disclaimer: Sophie owns only her made-ups and the plot, for she believes none has ever done something quite like this in any fic. She also doesn't own Hitomi, who is Souta's actual girlfriend in the anime. (If she's in the manga I have no idea!)

Moons, Spiders, and Fluffy Things

Chapter 1: The Hospital

On a clear, summer Saturday morning, a nearly empty, yellow backpack flew over the lip of the Bone-Eater's Well, followed by a huffing Kagome.

"There has got to be an easier way to travel," she grumbled, lifting her bag and walking up the steps of the well house in present day Tokyo.

She ran across the shrine grounds to her house, slipping off her shoes. "Tadaima!" she called into the house, letting everyone know she was back.

"Kagome, you're back!" Mama said, her head popping out from the kitchen doorway.

"Yea, InuYasha let me escape for a while," she told her mom with her ever-present smile.

Across the hall, Kagome heard her brother on the phone.

"She's awake? …. Sosuke went to see her already, right? … She did? … Sure, I'll try and see if I can… 'Kay… Bye!"

"Hey Squirt!" Kagome greeted her little brother, catching him in a headlock and painfully ruffling his hair with a fist.

"Aw, c'mon! Sis!" he whined, struggling out of her grip.

"Oh fine, be that way," she joked, letting him go with a light plop as his bum hit the floor.

Kagome was about to leave the room when Souta stopped her, grabbing hold of the corner of her skirt as he rose from the floor. "Wait sis!" he urged. "Could you do me a favor, please?"

She gave him a downward glance, eying him suspiciously. "That depends, what's the favor?"

"Will you take me to the hospital to visit my friend, please?" Souta pleaded, lacing his hands together in front of him for effect.

"No way! I just got back and I want to relax!" Kagome refused. "Besides, remember what happened the last time I took you to the hospital? I almost died!"

"But you almost die all the time anyway!" he whined. This earned him a glare and a smack in the back of his head. A bad example but he was desperate. "And besides, this time it's different 'cuz she got attacked and we feel like it's our fault," he continued, getting quieter towards the end, nearly a mumble..

"Whoa there, tiger," Kagome interrupted. "First, who is 'she', your girlfriend? And who are 'we'? How is it your fault?"

"I'll tell you on the way! C'mon sis, pretty please?" Souta was on his knees now, hugging Kagome's legs. He knew if she was going to give in, groveling would snap her like a twig.

"Ugh, fine, tweeb," she gave in with a groan. "Now get off me so I can change." She kicked him back harmlessly, sending him onto his bum yet again with a small 'oof.'

Kagome trudged up the stairs, dragging her pack behind her. She heard a small victory cry of 'Yes!' from her brother, making her sigh heavily.

'How do I get caught up in these things!'

Alright, a pretty pitifully short chapter, with only minor changes, but I finally have my plot fixed and ready! gleams Nearly a year and I FINALLY post! I'm so sorry to everyone!
