The Smash Mansion…A place where the fighters could go to rest after tough battles, and to hang out. Incidentally, it served as a cheap yet effective cop-out for any authors too lazy to make their own interpretations about where the characters go to unwind, myself included.
Each bedroom was like a sort of alternate dimension, created for each character's comfort. Mario and Luigi's room was an exact replica of their house's interior. Zelda had a grand suite, while Link settled in with a humble bed in a wooden house. And so on…
Anyway, will shall begin this tale at it's beginning…
Mario sat in the bedroom alone. He sighed, looking at his reflection in the mirror. This room of his…It belonged to both him and Luigi. But his brother was nowhere to be found.
After the Melee tournament, everyone had gone back to their respective worlds, Mario included. A few years later, though, he yet again received a letter, with the all too familiar Smash insignia on it.
Dear Mario,
You have hereby been confirmed to return to the next tournament, dubbed Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Please return to the Smash Mansion. You will find that it is located in the same area it has always been. Please also do not tell anyone, friends or otherwise, that you have been confirmed to return.
Upon arrival, you shall find an updated set of clothing to wear inside your new bedroom.
Sincerely,
Anonymous
Aside from the obvious changes, the letter was almost exactly the same as the previous two he had received before. Now, he was in the very bedroom mentioned. He was, however, anxious. He, Kirby and Pikachu were the only ones there so far. In the Melee tournament, there were at least 25 fighters. One question haunted his mind: How many of those people weren't returning?
