A/N: YAY! Another one! This is a very short one, though! But, I'm still excited. Once more the dialogue in bold is from the movie. Sorry once again if it's not precise. The Lorax belongs to Illumination Studios, Universal Studios, and Dr. Seuss
The Last Seed
Ted looked down at the stone-cut word: Unless. "Wow," he said looking up, "It really is your fault." "Yes it is," the Once-ler said mournfully, "And all this time I wondered what does that word mean? Unless." Ted looked down once more at that mysterious word. What did it mean? "And I think the Lorax left it for you, Ted," the Once-ler finished. Ted abruptly looked up. "Wait what?" he called as the Once-ler disappeared from the window. Ted couldn't believe this! What did the crazy old hermit mean? "Wait what is that supposes to mean?" he yelled after him. The Once-ler reappeared at the window. He was holding something in green gloved hand. "I think the Lorax meant for you to have this," he said carefully dropping his hand's contents. Ted caught whatever it was the old man had just given him. "The last Truffla seed," the Once-ler announced. Ted closely examined it. It was small and smooth with a light brown swirl. So that is what seeds look like. "You need to plant it, Ted," the Once-ler continued. "What," he found himself asking again, "Me?" "That seed is more than just a seed, just like you're more than just a boy. It's not what is. It's about what it can become," he added wisely. Ted took a moment to let this all sink in. Was it really up to him? "You need to change the way things are," the Once-ler added again. "But what if I can't," Ted worried, "I'm just a kid! There's no way I stand up against O'Hare and plant the seed." From between the boards it appeared the Once-ler was shaking his head. "You got to least try, Ted," the Once-ler tried to reason with him. "But with I can't?" Ted shot back. "Unless someone like you cares an awful lot. Nothing going to get better," the Once-ler said. Then he pulled his arms back through the boards and quietly adding more to himself, "It's not." That's when Ted knew. He tightly grasped the seed. "I won't let you down," he finally said determined. Carefully he stuffed the seed into his pocket before jumping onto his scooter. He drove to the Wall deep in thought. It was really up to him. The Once-ler was right! Nothing will get better, only worse! He couldn't believe the little mission for Audrey has changed so much. A Tree wasn't just for her anymore, but for everybody. Truffla trees are what Thneedville really needs.
A/N: Hope you enjoyed! Once again feel free to review!
