A/N: Reread Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna and wow, the ending was just so touching. In the end, it's still one of my fave mangas *sniff* Although I didn't like the anime very much.
His Happiness
The little miss was crying when he arrived, trembling arms wrapped delicately around her chest as if she's going to break. One hand covering her mouth so she wouldn't make a sound. From the look of it, Ayumu must've spoken to her just now.
Kiyotaka cleared his throat to gain her attention. The brown-haired girl was quick to look up and wiped her face with her sleeve.
Such an uncute girl.
"Narumi-san won," she said, offering him a shaky smile. There were still tear streaks on her cheeks.
He smiled back.
"I know," he admitted graciously. "In the end, he was able to defeat me." He turned to look at her. "But you were probably hoping for that all along, aren't you?"
"Yes,"
He started to go. There was nothing more to be said. What else can he say? But just as he passed her, she grabbed her sleeve causing him to stop.
"There's just one thing, I wanted to ask you," she said, not even bothering asking him to turn back. "Did you send me to Narumi-san knowing that I'd fall inlove with him? That it'll be hopeless even if I do? That I'll probably just get my heart broken because I'm not his type?" her voice broke at the last question.
"That was three things you wanted to ask," he pointed out.
"Just answer my question, damnit!" she yelled losing her patience. They really were brothers, both were sadists and terrible to women. She could understand a bit how Madoka-oneesan feels, married to a guy like this.
Kiyotaka pulled his arm from her hold and turned back to look at her. He chuckled.
"Do you really think that a guy who was able to change his fate, can't change his taste in women?" he asked, patting her in the head. "You did a great job," he whispered to her, before leaving.
("You are quite warm," Narumi told her, hugging her just before he went out to meet with Hizumi.)
("Hold on this," he said handing her his earring. "It's a promise. If I win against Aniki and come back, return it back to me")
("What did you achieve?" she asked him. He had just beaten Kiyotaka. "Was it happiness that you sought?"
Narumi thought hard for a moment. "Let's see...If I had to say it, that thing'd be for you to.." he looked at her before smiling. "No, for me not to see you sad.")
Warm tears began to flow again as the memories flooded her. From far away, even Kiyotaka could hear her loud cries this time. Such an uncute girl, he wonders what his little brother sees in her.
("If you're by my side, someone will mistake it as my happiness,")
Not mistake, he wanted to correct his little brother, she is his happiness. He could've had her. They could've been together, but he still chose to be alone. This spiral destiny that Ayumu chose for himself, the future that he would keep on opposing. This cruel fate. The little miss would probably never be able to forgive him.
In a way, that was also his redemption.
Two years later...
"Almost forgot, I wanted to ask you something," Kiyotaka called just after the brown-haired girl passed them by. She turned back. "Do you...hate me?"
She was silent for a while before giving him an angelic smile.
"Yes," she said. "I really hate you,"
"Thank you," he said sincerely. From beside him, Madoka looked surprised. "I wouldn't know what to do, if even you had forgiven me."
She nodded before excusing herself to go and see Ayumu. Two years had passed, but once in a while should be fine. He was still allowed to experience his happiness sometimes, right?
A/N: Just wanted to make a story out of that line in the last chapter when Kiyotaka asked Hiyono if she hated him. Eyes-kun is soo cool, but so is Hizumi and Ayumu. But I guess, Azasuki is still my fave ^^ R&R please
