Lady was walking through town to go pick up bread for Darling. Wedged within her collar were some money & a note. Upon reaching the market, Lady walked down the bread aisle & saw a mouse with a dress on, trying to reach for the same bread Lady needed.

Minnie had so much to do today! She had to go get her bow fluffed, choose a new dress, & make dinner for Mickey's surprise party tonight. Minnie was walking down the road & remembered that she needed bread. She hurried to the closest market & went looking for bread. When she started reaching for the bread, Minnie heard a little whine behind her. She turned & there was a beautiful little dog staring up at her with money & a note.

Lady sat patiently as the mouse read her note. Wagging her tail, she asked, "Excuse me, Miss, but can you reach that bread up there? There's no way I can reach it." She suddenly felt very shy, & hoped no one else had heard her speak. She didn't specifically like talking to any ordinary human. Luckily, no one had heard except for the mouse.

At first, she was shocked at the dog talking, but then Minniethought about it, & decided it wasn't so odd, considering she was a talking mouse. Minnie picked up the bread & held it. She looked back at the dog & said, "Here, you take this. I can always go to another store." She said, "My name is Minnie Mouse, how do you do?"

Lady gratefully took the bread from Minnie Mouse with her mouth & set it down beside her so she could speak. "Nice to meet you. I'm doing well, just running an errand for my human & escaping from the puppies for a little bit." She giggled & sat down.

Minnie smiled & replied, "The pleasure is all mine. I can understand having to get out for a bit. I have so many things to do before tonight!" Just as Minnie was thinking about leaving, she turned back to the dog & said, "I'm throwing a party for my dear Mickey Mouse. You said you have puppies, so I assume that means you're married, so I would love to invite you & your husband to the surprise party I'm throwing tonight. It'll be so much fun!" Smiling, Minnie reached into her purse, wrote down the address, & put it into the dog's collar. Minnie then smiled again, giggled, & said, "Too-ta-loo!"

Lady smiled & listened to Minnie's shrill voice. "Oh, how lovely, a party!" She looked at the address Minnie gave her. "Oh, that's right around the corner from where I live!" she exclaimed cheerfully. "I'll talk to my husband & if we can come, we definitely will! Thank you for the invitation, & good luck!" she called as Minnie walked away. She could understand her rush to leave. Party planning seemed like a lot of work. As Lady picked up the bread & walked to the register to pay for it, she couldn't help but laugh to herself. Maybe she'd bring over the bread to the party. What a funny little gift that would be!
