She's been down this hall thousands of times. But now it seemed like a whole new place. Not her work place, but a place she felt insecure and unsure of herself. A place that makes her feel like as if she was drowning in the middle of the ocean, with no one for miles.

Alone. It stands as a new word to her. A word she will never use the same again. It's such a simple word for such a complex mean. The word alone can be used in many situations. You can be alone in a crowded room. You can be emotionally alone. You can even be alone physically.

Her heals stopped clicking against the tile as she stopped in front of a door. Her eyes were glazed over in tears. Her angelic face seemed distant and cold, void of any emotion. Her hair was tattered and mused where her hands grabbed and pulled from sob sessions.

Her life was over.

Well to her, her life was over, done, and she had nothing to live for. For in the room in front of her laid her one true love, life less.

It was a terrible accident. He was on his way to work when he was pulled over by a cop. He didn't do anything wrong really, his tail light was out and the cop just wanted to inform him of it. But little did the cop know, that a criminal who was recently let out of prison, was planning his revenge that very day. As the cop came to her lover's window, the criminal pulled up and started shooting his target. This killing her lover as well as the cop and in turn, ruining her life forever.

She was only here to claim the body. But she couldn't even summon the courage to open the door as the tears finally broke and began their journey down her face slowly. She could taste the saltiness of her sorrow. She clenched her hands into tight fists as she tried to talk sense to herself.

"Stop being silly Serena. You don't even know for sure that it's Darien." She whispered with a crisp, fierceness to her voice. She felt the doorknob under her fingertips as she pushed the door open. In a blur she was given the details of her situation as they held her elbow, guiding her to the body. The body was presented and slowly they lifted the cloth away from it.

Her tears began to flood as a soft sob broke her lips as she turned away from the body; she covered her face in her hands as she gave them a sorrowful yes. It may have been his body, with a gun shot wound in his temple, but it wasn't Darien. She felt herself get weaker so she decided to run out of the room and find the closest chair in a semi empty waiting room. There she let out her sorrowful sobs, one after another, till she was crying dry tears. She felt her insides die. She could actually feel herself becoming an empty shell.

She was never the same again.
