No one knows the true story of Runningwind. Except me. So I'll tell you.
The two things that people seem to remember about this awesome warrior are that he was a fast runner (hence the name Runningwind). Also, he is remembered as being murdered, no slaughtered by the evil Tigerstar. But there is much more to this warrior than most people seem to know.
Runningwind was very young when he was tragically murdered. He had recently become a warrior shortly before Rusty (though we now know him as Firestar) joined ThunderClan. His apprentice name was Runningpaw, duh we all know that. He was Mousefur's brother and his parents were Oneeye and Halftail. So, now you know his background.
Runningwind was actually a very passive cat. It's not that he didn't stand up for himself, it was just that he preferred to settle arguments with as little pain as possible. Basically, he just liked to go with the flow. Who could blame him right? I mean the life of the warrior cats is pretty tough, you don't want to make minor problems any harder than you have to. So, Runningwind was originally going to be a medicine cat, partly because Spottedleaf was so hot, but partly because he was interested in healing and stuff like that and didn't want to fight and have to kill other cats. But since he was the fastest cat in ThunderClan, Bluestar, who had recently become leader at this point, insisted that he train as an apprentice to be a warrior. In fact, Runningwind was so fast, that some of the clan cats rumored that he was really from WindClan, the clan in which I am from.
Eventually, Runningwind began to enjoy the life of a warrior, and became less passive, although he always remained low key.
Then, that fateful day came. The day that was to be Runningwind's last. A tragedy was unfolding in the forest. Tigerclaw (remember, he wasn't Clan leader of ShadowClan yet) had been banished from the clan and was roaming the forests as a rogue. He was gathering up other rogues, forming a small tribe, and terrorizing cats who weren't in the safety of their camps. Unfortunately, Runningwind was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He never even knew what was happening until he woke up with StarClan. Let this be a reminder to the monstrosity of murder. Tigerstar will always be remembered for the evil he did on that day.
By the way, how do I know this? After all, I am from WindClan, and Runningwind was a Thunderclan cat. Well, the truth is, I am Runningwind's half brother. That's right, he had a brother, though he never knew it. I didn't know it either until my mother confessed to me that Tallstar wasn't my father. Apparently she had a love affair with Halftail. I'm the only memory of Runningwind that lives on, since Halftail is dead.
