Pilot - Micheal/Liz
By Mara
Liz Parker glanced over her shoulder as her best friend, Maria DeLucca, told her that Max Evans was watching her. She played along, pretending to still be nursing her childhood crush on Max, but she wished the other person at the table was the one watching her.
Micheal Guerin. Trouble with a capital 'T', but still the guy Liz fantasized about. She blushed slightly as she thought of some of those fantasy. Maria always assumed, since Max was usually where ever Mcihela was, that it was Max that Liz dreamed about. *If only she knew,* Liz thought, letting her gaze linger on the back of Micheal's head. *Turn around,* she silently begged.
She heard two men arguing and turned towards them just as the gunshot rang out.
~*~*~
Micheal and Max jumped at the sound of the shot, and spun around. Micheal spotted Liz first, and froze in shock and horror. Moments later, Max saw her and started towards her, but Micheal grabbed his arm. He didn't want Liz to die, but he didn't want to put himself, Max, or Isabel at risk either. Micheal told Max not to, but was actually relieved when his friend refused to listen and instead went to Liz.
Micheal let his gaze linger on Liz as Max started to heal her, and he said a silent prayer for her well being before running out to start the jeep. They had to make a quick get away after Max was done healing Liz, or their chances of being caught increased even more. He sat in the jeep, staring inside the Crashdown for any sign of what was happening, then got out and ran back to the door, using the pretense of telling Max to hurry so he could get a glimpse of Liz and see if she was alright now.
He was relieved to see her standing up, looking shaken but fine. His eyes locked with hers briefly, then he turned and ran out.
~*~*~
Liz stared after Micheal, wondering why his eyes had been filled with such concern. *He must be worried about what Max did,* she thought to herself. *No about me.* Maria rushed up to her, near hysterical and asking if she was alright. Liz reluctantly took her eyes off the jeep, turned to Maria, and said she was fine, that she just spilled ketchup. By the time she looked outside again, the jeep, along with Micheal, was gone.
