A/N: Bored and in need of something to do so I wrote about a squib in a pureblood family. Please review whether you love it or hate it!
Have you've been around a bunch of people who can do something amazing but you can't? Like say you're around a bunch of singers, but you sing like cat stuck in the washing machine? Okay now imagine your entire family is full of singers, and that's the family legacy! How would you feel everyday knowing you're a disappointment to your parents who run, say a record company. Well if you can relate to that then you can relate to me.
My name is Delphi, after the oracle, my mother desperately hoped I would inherit my great grandmother's talent. My family is full of witches and wizards and yes they are real, I promise. I was born the second child, first daughter, to a great wizarding family, the Sthenos. My mother told me from a young age I would be a powerful witch just like her, but I never showed any signs of magic.
I think the worst thing in the world for my parents was when my eleventh birthday came, it was that day they contacted the headmaster of the best magical school in the world, Hogwarts. Headmaster Dumbledore them I could not go to Hogwarts for I possessed no magical powers, I remember my mother crying for hours. That was the day I became the biggest disappointment in the world, and I was no longer my mother's "precious oracle" or my father's "sweet sorceress" I was now "the filthy squib" and "the biggest disappointment" the shame of the family.
Two months after I turned eleven, my parents came in my room.
"Delphi we need to talk." My mother said harshly, no longer full of love, "we have decided that since you are filthy squib, none of our friends will want anything to do with you. Nor can you be our daughter; we would lose social status, a pureblood lineage like ours cannot be tainted by a squib. We've come up with a solution that will solve the problem?"
"You've found a way to get me magical powers?" I ask excitedly, I was so naïve that I believed that they still wanted me, but first I had to be magic.
"No you foolish failure! You were born without magic and you shall stay that way! No you are no longer our daughter, you are now our maid. You will stay here working for room and board and you will attend classes at the local muggle school. Now pack your things out of this room, you will stay with the other maids in the help house. Our son, Aquila will be coming home on Holiday soon and we would like for there to be a guest room incase he brings someone with him.
I moved out and was lead to the small shack to share with another girl and a house elf. The girl was about twenty and a cook but I couldn't remember her name. The house elf was short with round big brown eyes that looked sad; I knew her name, Teeny.
"Hello, I'm the new maid," I said quietly.
"The masters are not pleased with Teeny's work? Will Teeny get clothes?" the small elf asked. Then she shrieked, "Teeny will do better! Teeny wants to serve her masters!" Teeny sobbed.
"Oh Teeny, you know human maids are all the rage right now, they aren't replacing you they just want to show off their wealth" The cook soothed, and glared at me.
Teeny sniffed then, "You are one of the Stheno's what are you doing here? You are no maid, you are a spy!" she shrieked again.
"I'm no spy and I am… I am…." I couldn't get the words out, that my parents had disowned me for lack of magic. I broke down crying. This would be my life? Waiting on my own family?
