He looked at her.

At her tears, at her sadness. At the regret and pain beginning to surface on her face. He looked at her and for the first time since the war, he didn't feel anything.

"Heero, please...I-I'm sorry."

His body stiffened and his eyes seemed to catch on fire but he kept quiet. He was never one for words, and now would be no different.

She was close to begging, and she knew he knew that. The back of her mind screamed in protest, but the rest of her body ignored it. Her legs buckled and her knees sank down to the floor. Clasping her hands before her, she looked up and literally commanded her face too look as pitiful and as sorrowful as humanly possible

She couldn't lose him. Not now.

"Please, don't leave me..." Her voice cracked in midsentence, and the rest of it came out in a rather harsh blend of sobs and breathless whispers.

She tilted her head up and met his eyes. Eyes of the coldest flame, able to set your soul a blaze and freeze it over all in one glance. Eyes that once gave her strength. Eyes that she dreamed of in her sleep and longed to wake up too in the morning. Eyes that now, stared at her with such hate and unbridled animosity that it made her shiver slightly with fear.

There slow burn intensified brilliantly, before dying out completely. She sobbed harder as realization dawned on her.She couldn't read them anymore. Heero's eyes were always how he communicated with her whenever he didn't speak, which was often. Now however, she couldn't tell what he was thinking or feeling, and it was at this point that she realized she had lost him.

"Goodbye Relena." His tone was void of all feeling. He turned on his heel, and quietly slipped out the door.

And just like that, the one person that could make her heart soar, make her feel complete, give her strength, and make her an overall better person walked out of her life for good.

A ragged gasp tore through her body as the consequences of her previous actions finally became clear. She had lost the only man she could ever love.

She curled into the fetal position and cried. She cried until the tears wouldnt fall anymore and her sobs turned into dry heaves.

She resisted sleep, because if she dreamed and her dreams would be filled with thoughts of him.

Instead she lied there, silently whispering to herself,

"Please come back."
