Heya!! I was sitting around during JROTC and I all of a sudden felt like analyzing Kenshin. He is so cool, but in the dark recesses of my mind, he really makes me wonder. So, here ya go, food for thought.

Jekyll/Hyde Complex

Watching Rurouni Kenshin on a daily basis had made me think about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Kenshin is just like them at times. The rurouni: kind, sweet, caring, and dedicated to any cause he feels is important (like Jekyll). Then there is battosai: the cold, calculating, murderer of the revolution. I'll admit, battosai wasn't crazy like Hyde, but there is an obvious struggle for self-control within Kenshin. He wants to protect the people he loves and cares for, but the urge to kill lurks beneath it all. As we all know, Jekyll lost his battle to Hyde at the end of the book. Will Kenshin follow in those footsteps? He might be able to control it now, but things can always change. Or have they already? Who is the real Kenshin? The kind rurouni? Or the murderous manslayer? Maybe the Hyde in Kenshin is not battosai but the rurouni. And maybe that means that Kenshin has already lost his battle. But, maybe that isn't such a bad thing.

Well? What do you think? Review and let me know. I'm dying to find out other people's opinions on this.

Peace,
