Silence

Silence..
It seemed to be overwhelming lately. There was an absense of the usual happy and noisy atmosphere. Perhaps it was the cold weather and the snow that fell down at a quick rate outside that had chilled the warmth in the house.

Snow..it was almost as it was that day.
The day that changed his life completely. His parents were going to read to him and let him sleep in their bed..but it wasn't to be.
"I'll read to you for as long as you want. Tonight is a treat, ok?" The voice of his mother rang out in his head.

Something slid down his cheek..was it a tear.? Ciel moved a small hand to his cheek and wiped off the moisture, mind still on that night.

He could remember the crackling flames and the smell of burning flesh all too well, ivory skin turning a shade paler.

He could still see their bodies engulfed in flames. His parents..taken from him.

More tears seemed to accompany the first that had slid down his cheek but he was far too proud to sob.

His hatred. Ciel had to hang on to his hatred because with that he had nothing...he would be nothing. The person he had worked so hard to become would face away with it.

"Master.." Sebastian's voice spoke through the door, obviously aware that the young earl needed a moment to himself.
"We have a birthday party awaiting you downstairs."

A birthday party..? Why on earth would he want to celebrate such a terrible day..? Did no one realize how sick it was? But he couldn't keep everyone waiting so he wiped his tears off and put back on the mask of calm that he wore so well.

"Alright..I will be right there."

'Yes...Happy Birthday to me' He thought darkly.
