I don't own CSI.

Spoilers for 13x07!

This is the third fanfic I've written based on "Fallen Angels," and I don't know if it's a record for a fanfiction author, but I think it's cool :)

And, yes, I do reference my story, "I Miss Him Too," in this story. I hope you all enjoy that story as well.

Anyway, I wondered what Sara might have said to Grissom after meeting with Tina and watching her with Warrick's son. Aaaaand here it is. I hope you enjoy it...and please review!

Gil Grissom sat on the bed in his wife's Vegas apartment. He had promised his mother he'd be home for Thanksgiving dinner, and was happy to see his wife again. He also wanted to see the team after their most recent case-where the suspect was Tina Brewster, the ex-wife of Warrick Brown.

Gil thought back to the last time he saw Eli. It was Warrick's funeral, and Eli was just a few months old and spent most of the service sound asleep in his mother's arms. Nick, Greg, Doc Robbins, Brass, Catherine, Sara, and everyone spent time with Tina. But when the service was over, Tina shut every one of them out, refusing to let them be a part of Eli's life. Gil knew that Tina sometimes had difficulty dealing with Warrick's job, but shutting the team out of his son's life was like pouring salt on an open wound.

He didn't realize he was just staring off into space when he heard Sara's voice.

"Hey, you."

Gil looked up and saw his wife. Fresh from a shower, her brown hair drying naturally and wearing her bathrobe, Sara was beautiful.

Sara crawled onto the bed and laid her head on her husband's shoulder. Sighing, she took Gil's hand in hers. "You're going to love Eli." A small smile crossed Gil's face. "He's just like his father. He's beautiful, smart, sweet, funny..."

Gil softly kissed Sara's forehead. "I wish Warrick could have known his son."

"So do I," Sara said with a deep sigh. "But Tina is getting a second chance with him."

Shaking his head slightly, Gil laid his head on top of Sara's. "I wish she would have let us get to know him before...all this. Warrick wanted to be a father so much."

Sara lifted her head to look in her husband's eyes. "Now they have a chance. Look when I thought that Tina could have...that she might be living with a killer, I wanted to just scream, 'this is about Eli'. That she needs to think about what is best for her son and not about her."

Gil raised a hand to brush a damp curl off Sara's cheek. "We all get our chances. You and Warrick knew that you have to take him, you have to live." He gazed into his wife beautiful brown eyes. "Now Tina knows that, too."

Sara smiled thoughtfully. "I took my chances. They led me back to my family here at the lab...and to you."

Gil smiled and Sara leaned down to kiss her husband. "Thank God for taking chances."

Sara smiled. "Greg told me something. He said that Warrick was always his unofficial mentor when he started out in the field. And that he learned a lot from Warrick because he had a great teacher."

Gil smiled, knowing that he loved Warrick like a son. "And we had a great family...then and now."

Sara laid her head on Gil's chest, listening to his steady heartbeat. "Yes, we are...Tina, Eli, Nick, Greg, Brass, everyone."

"Yeah," Gil said softly. "I love this family."

The End.
