Prologue
Spock walked quietly around the halls of the Enterprise. His hands rested at the edge of his back allowing him to straighten up and for his legs to stride with ease. To many around the Enterprise it was said that Spock's postor could put a statue to shame. As he continued his way down the hall to the bridge he walked past a few ensigns who gave him the usual nod and small smile. He kindly returned the favor with a simple nod and went on his way to the elevator. As the doors closed he heard the quiet hum, before the doors opened to show the bridge. He walked out continuing his perfect stride all the way to his assigned place on the bridge.
Through this Kirk turned and watched Spock, starring as the Vulcan-Terran hybrid sat perfectly in his seat. For some reason this annoyed him. Not in a bad way of course, but Jim being Jim he always found things about Spock that was just too Vulcan and when Jim found these things the little wheels in his head began to turn and then he gets a thought.
"Why are you so perfect?", he suddenly blurted out. Spock, easily knowing the captain was addressing him, looked up with one eyebrow simply raised in question.
"I do not understand your question captain. Would you please consider rephrasing?", he asked eyeing his captain. Kirk smirked at the response before nodding.
"Sorry, what I meant was why do you always strive to out do every task handed to you?, he had sounded more formal than he wanted to, but hopefully he had gotten his point to Spock. In return the Vulcan fell in thought, placing both hands together at the palm, and placing his fingertips gently against his mouth, as he stared at the floor. Kirk waited patiently for his first officer's answer, when suddenly soft chocolate brown eyes connected to icy electric blue ones and Kirk felt himself jump just ever so slightly at the movement, ignoring his small micro scare he watched Spock's eyes as the Vulcan folded his hands on his lap, perfectly, sat up perfectly, and even stared at his captain perfectly. This was actually starting to get under Jim's skin.
"As you know Captain I am half Vulcan and was raised in the Vulcan's way of life, therefore my mentality is locked in a phase where I must strive to do my best in any task sent to me.", Spock said in his usual monotone voice. Kirk had a questionable look on his face, almost like he didn't believe Spock's answer, but soon that went away and was replaced by a mischievous grin. McCoy, who happened to arrive on the bridge at that moment, caught the grin and immediately knew that Jim had a plan on his mind.
"What aren't you good at?", Jim asked as McCoy groaned pinching the bridge of his nose. He didn't even have to know what the conversation was to guess Jim's plan.
"Multiple things Captain, as any other person I am filled with flaws." Spock said before turning back into his position putting the conversation to a close. Kirk turned back to his position as well staring out into space, arms crossed over his chest, with a smirk formed on his face. He had a plan.
