A/N: Hi! It's been a while since I've posted anything, and I just finished this recently, so I thought I'd post it. Enjoy!
Rikku supposes that Tidus is like the sun.
You can't hate the sun, for one thing. And with his friendly disposition and his sunshine grin, Tidus is impossible to hate.
He's like the sun in other ways, though: the way his spiky blond hair ruffles in the breeze, the way his blue eyes blaze when he's determined. The way he fights, so cleanly, refusing to cheat even at the cost of his own life. So loyal, even to the newest friend.
But if Tidus is the sun, then Yuna is the moon. Yuna, with her evening eyes and star-shy smile. Yuna, with her slender physique and graceful movements and light footsteps. Yuna, with her twirling staff and icy lunar glare. Yuna, the moon and the night sky and everything in between.
Rikku once heard an Al Bhed legend from her father where the sun fell in love with the moon. The sun wanted to meet with the moon, so he waited till the darkness came. But when the moon finally came out, the sun was much too bright for the moon to handle. The sun eclipsed the moon, and the sun sadly went away.
But Yuna and Tidus's love, Rikku realizes, is not like that. No, her two friends fit together like the password on a machina. Yuna's calm balances out Tidus's never-ending energy. Tidus's easy confidence stabilizes Yuna's moments of insecurity. Their personalities are so different, you'd think they'd rub against each other and crack, but as she watches Yuna's faint blush and Tidus's embarrassed smiles, Rikku thinks that maybe it's more like they're puzzle pieces waiting to be put together: the rough edges slide together and click, just like that.
She watches as the sun and the moon hold hands and laugh and talk and do everything teenagers are supposed to do when they're in love, and decides she'd better keep them that way.
