Angel
"Do you believe in Angels? I didn't until yesterday. Who knew they were with you, watching every little thing you do?Well, I met an Angel, and it was like this..."
October 5th 2012
'...I never come here anymore, as a matter of fact, I don't think I've even been here 3 times yet...
...It's just somewhere foreign now... an empty place filled with so many memories. Memories I try hard not to recall, others I look back at with fondness...
A few hours ago, I would have laughed and called myself crazy for believing there were such thing as Angels...
...but now I'm not so sure...'
"Alan?" Scott called softly as he approched the graveyard, where he saw his littlest brother standing, head bowed over the grave of their mother.
"I saw her Scott, I saw mom..." whispered Alan as he turned around with tears running down his cheeks. He was smiling, despite his tears, and his eyes were twinkling with happiness – something that hadn't happened on this day for years.
"What? Al... er, how? Alan, mom's been dead for 10 years..." Scott said painfully, reaching out for his brother.
"I know that Scott, I just... I didn't see mom, I saw an angel..." Alan smiled, raising his eyes skyward.
Somewhere in heaven"That's right my baby boy, you saw me... after all these years..." Lucille cried, looking down at her eldest and youngest children together, wanting nothing more than to reach down and erase that pain from Scott's face as she had done for Alan.
Back on earth"An Angel?" questioned Scott, brows raising in an effort to control his emotions, there was a lump in his throat that made it hard for him to talk to his brother. "
"Mom's a beautiful Angel... with white wings, a green silk dress, and her golden locks of hair. She's an Angel, Scott, and she's watching us, she loves us and she's proud!"
That proved too much for Scott, and he was torn between chastising his brother for saying things that might not be true and disbelief at the fact that Alan might be telling the truth. He almost choked on his tears.
"Al, go back to the car, I'll be along in a minute, I just want to say hi."
Nodding, Alan turned away from his brother and, as he left the graveyard, he was smiling. Smiling because he knew that his mother wasn't truly gone, smiling because he knew she was watching him, smiling because she loved him... Smiling, because she was an Angel.
