The Startling Change.
A/N: I wrote this for The Neopian Times about...6 months ago. It wasn't excepted, but I though I might post it. This is a exagurated account of a kindof true incident that happened.
"Do it again! Do it again!" Meterorite laughed as az__girl chased him again and again through the park in the middle of Neopia Central. Meterorite was a red Grundo, but how long was he going to stay like that?
"Whew! Slow down." az__girl puffed and sat down on the grass. " I have an idea. Let's stop and go browsing the shops.'
"Ok." Meterorite said and bounced off to get his things. Soon they were walking toward the marketplace.
20 minutes later they were walking around when it started to rain. Ducking into a nearby shop they stopped and pondered what to pick out.
"Hey! Look at this!" Meterorite shouted to her from across the store." It's a sparkly meerca toy! Can we get this? Please? It's only 150NP." He look at az__girl with such appealing eyes that she couldn't help but say yes.
"After all," she argued to herself. "He has to share toys with his brother and sister. Why can't he have just one toy to himself?" Suddenly the rain stopped. They put the plushie in a bag and went to their Neohome.
After dinner Meterorite got his toy and started playing with it in the family room. "Mom," he called to his owner. "I don't feel like myself. My teeth are hurting. I seem bigger and I have green hands!"
Az__girl rushed into the room and dropped the book she was reading. "How'd that happen?" She asked bewildered.
"What?" Meterorite answered. Then, looking in a nearby mirror, he dropped the toy and fainted.
When revived, he asked hesitently, as if afraid to say it, "What happened?"
" I don't know." she said and paused. " I know! Let's go ask Kavara."
Stopping only to snatch their raincoats (although Meterorite's didn't fit anymore), they bolted out the door and ran down the street. They soon reached the shop only there was a sign on the door that said, "Closed. Down with the NeoFlu."
" Oh great!" az__girl said as she slapped her forehead in frusteration. "Now what will we do?"
" We can go to the marketplace and find the person we bought it from. Maybe he'll tell us."
They ran as fast as they could to the shop where they bought the mysterious plushie. They asked the shopkeeper about the toy.
" Hmmm, according to my records you bought a magical meerca plushie. As far as I know, when you play with it, you turn into a meerca." the shopkeeper stated, looking at his shop history.
" What'll we do now?" Meterorite said, feeling a little scared. After all, there would be new clothes to buy, food to find out if he liked and maybe even new friends.
" Well, maybe we can get a Grundo morphing potion or something like that. But you're still a part of our family and you do look kind of cute. I'm sure everyone will get used to you. "
" I wonder if I'll like broccoli or cabbage? Yuck!"
And it was true, eventally everyone got used to Meterorite's change, even himself. In fact, he was a became a little mroe confident and started winning more arena battles.
