James could not believe that Sirius had been so stupid! He could not believe that he had broke his promise to Remus and told someone about his secret; adding to that that it was Snivellus Snape of all people! Even though he didn't outright tell Snape Remus' secret, he was bound to find out when he went through the passage underneath the Whomping Willow that led to the Shrieking Shack. Where Remus would be waiting out his transformation.
He ran. He ran as fast as he could to the passage, pushing his legs for every bit of their worth, so that he could reach it in time. He knew for a fact that if a Werewolf killed or bit someone, they would immediately be detained and euthanized.
Moony . . .
His legs were burning, but the thought of those amber eyes kept him going.
. . . I promise won't let that happen to you, love.
