Life had changed since both got back from Afghanistan and Brennan back from Maluku. Booth never came around with takeout anymore or spent time with her anymore. He only came by the lab when she had updates on the case. The space between them was ever growing and it made her sad to know that they weren't as close as they used to be.
What had changed? Was it something he had done or said? No it was one simple ting one simple person. Hannah had been taking up most of his time the last few months and it made her so sad that unwillingly to admit it she had cried herself to sleep more times then she wished to remember.
As she sat at home working on her computer her mind was slightly more at peace because the case reports were a distraction. She had tried to work on the latest edition of her books but she couldn't bring herself to write because it reminded her too much of him, because she would never admit it especially not now, now that they didn't even talk anymore, he was the person she has based her lead male character on.
That was a lie they had talked yesterday, if you could call it talking, no it was yelling
Flash back
"Brennan can I have the case file, I need to get back to Hannah, were going out tonight"
Without saying anything she put the file on the table and walked away to her office without looking back
His eyebrows creased together as he realised that something was wrong. He followed after her and walked into her office.
"What's up Brennan?" he asked as he crossed his arms, the file clasped tightly
"You should go booth Hannah's waiting after all" she said with a hint of hostility in her voice
"I'll go in a minute, what's wrong with you, Brennan" he asked
"Nothing, just go" she raised her voice and directed her attention back to her computer screen
"no" he said just as loud and turned her computer screen off
She felt like screaming at him but just opened a file and continued to work
"Bones" he screamed and turned her chair to face him
She was up ad over to the doorway before he could act
"Security" she yelled to the men standing by the platform
"Yes doctor Brennan?" one of the men said as they ran over
"I will be in limbo can you please remove Mister Booth from the building before I get back she said as she walked away
"Yes. Doctor Brennan" they said and grabbed booth strongly by the shoulders and dragged him away
"Bones, what the hell?" booth said struggling against the men

That was the last time she had seen him
When booth had gotten back Hannah they had fought and broke up because she had said that she couldn't play second best anymore. This was why booth was standing at Bones' front door with takeout food I his hands and knocked on her door
"What do you want" she said as she opened the door
"Takeout bones?" he said
She looked at him and slammed the door in his face
"Bones" he shouted through the door
"You don't get to call me that. Go away" she yelled back and she walked away
"I'm coming in" he said ad took out the keys to her apartment and entered
"Get out, booth" her voice was heard from the bedroom
He gulped and placed the takeout on the coffee table
He walked towards he bedroom and placed his head on the door
"Let me in bones" he whispered
"Booth please just-" the rest of the sentence was cut off by a sob
It made his hart ach to hear her crying
"Bones Hannah and I broke up"
"Then why aren't you at a bar or something?" she mumbled
"Because I wanted to hang out with my best friend"
"Then why are you here?" she said
"Because you're my best friend"
Silence
She opened the door
"Were not even friends anymore booth" she whispered
