It had been 4 months since Arizona had stood in front of this building. It seemed both forever and not nearly long enough. Now that she was physically standing here, maybe it was too soon. Maybe she should have called first. Maybe she shouldn't have left in the first place. None of that mattered now because here she was and fear be damned, she was going in. It is time to face what she left behind.

Walking through the halls of the hospital felt surreal. Truth be told, when she had left, she really hadn't known if she would ever be back. Memories flooded back to her with each step she took further in and each corner she turned. She saw faces she had come to know well in the last 2 years and some new faces that had appeared within the last 4 months of her absence.

For a Friday night in Seattle, the ER looked liked like a ghost town. Not seeing anyone too familiar, she hesitantly walked up to a nurse she didn't know.

"Excuse me, do you know if Dr. Torres is on tonight?"

"Dr. Torres has already left for the night. Most of that group has. They all were going out tonight to Joe's for Dr. Yang's birthday."

"Joe's. Right. Great. Thank you."

Joe's. Scene of the crime. Here goes nothing…

Joe's was packed and right in the middle of it all were a group of friends who had come out to celebrate one of their owns birthday. Christina, Owen, the Grey sisters, Derek, Alex, April and Bailey were all seated around the table about to take another celebratory shot when Avery, Teddy, Mark and Callie walked over from the bar to join them in time.

"To Chritina! We love you!" said Owen as they all lifted their shot glasses to clink before they all threw back the Tequila.

They all resumed their conversations with each other. Teddy was recounting a story to Callie about her 7 year-old patient who asked if he could keep his old heart in a jar so he can bring it to show and tell when he gets back to school. As they were laughing at his adorableness, they didn't hear the door to Joe's open and they certainly didn't see who it was that walked through that door.

Arizona didn't know if it was harder to walk into the hospital or into Joe's. Joe's. Definitely Joe's. This was where she first kissed Callie. This was where she got to know her colleagues as they turned into her Seattle family with each outing they spent here. This was where she and Callie would start their night only to leave soon after because they couldn't contain their want and need for each other, ending in endless amounts of passion back home across the street. Yes, this was harder than the hospital. Making her way through the crowd, she stopped when her eyes spotted her Seattle family gathered at and around a table. Shifting her eyes to the right of the table was Callie. She had her back to her as she was talking to Teddy. She didn't know how long she was standing there but it was enough time for Teddy to spot her and cause Callie to turn around.

Teddy and I were talking about her patient when she stopped mid-sentence and was suddenly looking behind me, her eyes wide. Turning around to see what she was looking at, I was not prepared to see the blonde woman who left me standing in an airport. With a thousand emotions running through me, I turned back around, slammed the rest of my drink back and told Teddy I would see her tomorrow at work.

With that, Callie turned around, eyes fixed forward and walked right out the door.
