TheLord of the Rings including Edoras, Éomer, King Theoden, Éowyn, Grima, Firefoot, Saruman, Helm's Deep, Rohan, the White Wizard, the Westfold, the Fords of Isen, and Middle-Earth do not belong to me.Neither does the small quote from King Theoden from the Two Towers.

The Stable girl however, does belong to me.

Stable girl's thoughts after Éomer has been banished from Edoras by Grima.

Stood where she had always been for the past few days, the middle of the stone stair case leading up to the Golden Hall. Her solemn figure never moving each night, no matter what the chilled breeze blew at her. A strand of her wavy red hair blew forward in the wind, reaching out to where her eyes, and heart lay. In the distant fields of the Westfold or Fords of Isen.

It had been three days since his banishment from Edoras. His éored had gone with him, he inspired such loyalty in all those around him. Many a night he would enter the stables to calm himself after a confrontation with Grima, sitting with his dapple grey stallion, Firefoot. Those nights she never slept, but lay awake on her bed of hay in one of the empty stalls and listened to him, listened to him talk, whisper, breathe. Some of those nights he would fall asleep leaning on Firefoot, and when he did she would lay her blanket over them both and stand guard all night. When he woke she would already be hard at work cleaning the stalls or feeding the steeds. No words ever left his lips, he would merely lay his hand on her shoulder, after hanging her blanket, and leave. But she knew his thanks, always cheered by his touch.

The sun always shone out the clearer after such a night. But now the sun never shone, banished under an ever darkening cloud. A single moonlit tear fell from her cheek to the mossy stone steps as she watched the shadow rising in the East. Always watching, waiting for her Lord and master to return and bring the sun, and hope.

Stable girl's thoughts on Saruman's army attacking Helm's Deep.

Her heart sank in to her tatty leather shoes as a thunderous thumping shook the caves. The huge army outside was making their formidable presence known to all which it came to destroy. She hugged her knees up to her chest and leant her chin on her legs. Looking up she saw her mistress, Lady Éowyn, tending to the injured and calming the young and old alike. At that she felt a familiar strength flowing from her, she was as strong and honourable as her older brother. In seeing this, she stood, sucking in a deep breath, pushing her fear and despair away to the side for a time to think and regret. She started tending to the injured, sick and fearful around her. Hoping that the sun would return soon to lift away the shadow over the land, and in her heart.

He'd never returned to Edoras, even after King Theoden's mind was freed by the White Wizard. He did not return even as all of Rohan fled to the safety of Helm's Deep from the traitorous reach of Saruman's white hand.

Now the remaining men, and boys, of Rohan stood in the darkness of night on the great fortress wall outside. Stood to protect the women and children; their sisters, children, wives and mothers. Stood, waiting for their impending death and glory. The shadow from the East had reached the realm of the horse lords. Where is the horse and the rider?

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it, please review so I know what you thought of it. I'm thinking of writing a longer fan-fiction with Stable girl and Éomer in but I'm not sure, it all depends on the feedback I get on this little one. Tell me what you think of it and I welcome any suggestions or ideas for a longer fan-fiction.
