Before I was prepared

I almost wanted to hug you
Before I deserve the chance
I almost wanted to kiss you
Before I stopped myself

I almost wanted to court you
Before you actually prove worthy
I almost wanted to marry you
Before I actually bought the ring

I almost, almost gave up on you
Before I realised you were the one
I almost turned my back to you
Before I realised what I'd almost done

I almost left you when we wed
Before I said the words "I do"
I almost left when the home became hell
Before I stopped and went back to you

I almost said I love you
This time I didn't hold back

When I realised I already had

I almost wanted to hug you
Especially after a fight
