A/N: Okikagu short – character reference: ep 187 and 189 part 2

"Kabukicho radio morning exercises, start!"

Upon hearing that, a huge ruckus rummages through Gintoki's house. A flash of red passes by the hungover samurai as he stirred from his sleep.

"I'm leaving!" Kagura yells as she kicks the door down.

Gintoki squints and stares at the doorway. "Oh god, I have to fix the door again… after I fix my head," he thought as his head plops back down onto the sofa cushion.

Okita yawned as he began his morning rounds. He can't believe Hijikata managed to convince Kondo-san to change his shifts to morning. To make things worst, he is stuck with Kamiyama, who talks way too much. That mayo-freak is going to get it when he is done for the day.

Kamiyama can barely contain his excitement. It has been a while since he got to be working alone with Okita.

"Captain, remember back in the day where we stood up to those Joui? It was just you and me, covering each other's back. We only had five members infiltrating that time but we would just slay and slaughter whoever opposed us. Those were the days, huh? Oh I am SO GLAD YOU ARE MY CAPTAIN!"

The flaxen-haired boy sighed. It's definitely going to be a long day.

In the distance, the First Captain can hear the Kabukicho exercise being done at the park.

"Oi Kamiyama, we will split up. You go do the rounds and I'll go nap at the park."

"Um, but Captain, rounds should be done together. Just in case there happens to be an attack—"

Sougo put his hands on his subordinate's shoulders. "I believe in your strength, Kamiyama. If anything happens, I know you can handle it."

Kamiyama's eyes shone with joy. "Yes, captain! I am so happy that you see me as this useful! I am off to do my rounds now!"

The young captain yawns and rubs his eyes. What a silly subordinate. Now he can go take a nap.

He was about to lie down on the park bench when he saw an orange-haired girl lining up to get her card stamped.

"Oh? China is here? I guess I can go make fun of her before I sleep," Okita smirked.

He walks towards the statue then stops in his tracks. What he saw has made him burn with jealousy.

Kagura is talking with a boy with brown hair around her age. She's not bullying him like she does to the rest of the children in Kabukicho. She's laughing with him. Sougo is taken aback. Thinking about it, Kagura has never laughed in front of him.

The young captain is not sure why he clenched his fists or narrowed his eyes. But he definitely was not in the mood to nap anymore.

"Kabukicho radio morning exercises, start!"

Sougo is making rounds in the morning again except this time it is with another unfortunate subordinate who will eventually get ditched.

Thinking China probably wouldn't be there since she only does things like these for a short period of time, he walks to the park.

The exercise ended and this time, he is leaning against one of the trees to nap.

"Hisashi-kun!" Sougo recognized the voice well. He pulls his eye mask over his eyes and tried to ignore it.

"Ah, Kagura-chan! It's nice to see you are coming so often. I always wanted to talk to people my age. Thanks for always coming and keeping me company."

"It's nothing. Exercise is fun anyway," Kagura smiled. "Are you going to come tomorrow, Hisashi-kun?"

His green eyes sparkled. "Of course! Even though my body isn't that good, I have always wanted to finish something. So I will definitely come."

Sougo got up and walked away. He can't sleep when he wants to take his frustrations out on something. As he finds his subordinate on the street, he begins to wonder why he feels so frustrated when he sees her with someone else.

"Ah-ah, I must be getting sick," the flaxen-haired boy mumbled.
