A bit cold tonight, thought Oliver as he went walking through the neighborhood. As for his 2 best friends, well, he knew Miley was most likely still at her Hannah Montana concert and Lilly was falling head over heels for Matt. He would've gone to the dance too, but he just couldn't stand to see them together. It broke his heart a little more each time to see Lilly flirting with any boy. Even that very day, he'd seen Lilly in the hall flaunting the makeover Miley gave her. Of course, he agreed she looked hawt too. He liked her no matter how she looked. Oliver Oken was crazy in love with Lilly Truscott.
As he was passing by Miley's house, he noticed the exact girl that had just crossed his mind. It was hard to tell in the dark, but he was pretty sure he could hear her crying. Worried, he approached her.
"Lilly, what's wrong? What are you doing over here?"
Lilly looked up with tears in her eyes, "Oliver?? I was waiting for Miley."
Oliver pulled over a seat and looked at her affectionately, "She might be a little while...can't you just tell me?"
"Well...okay," She just needed someone to talk to and Oliver was her other best friend...but what if he laughed at her or something? "M-matt...never showed up. I was waiting for hours...I got stood up."
"Oh my god, Lills! I'm so sorry..." He couldn't believe a guy could be such a jerk to the person who made his world go around.
"I knew it was too good to be true...maybe he didn't really like me, maybe I'm not pretty enough."
"Lilly! You know that's not true. You're the prettiest, uh -- 1 of the prettiest girls I know. Anybody who'd do this to you doesn't deserve you."
Lilly smiled at him sweetly, "Thanks, Oliver. You're so sweet...any girl who has you for a boyfriend is definitely lucky."
Oliver blushed and stared at his feet. Nice of her to say but he didn't want any girl, he wanted Lilly!
"So, why didn't you want to go to the dance? I know at least 2 girls asked you." Lilly added.
He paused, "...I -- I was gonna ask..this girl, but then she got a date."
Lilly jumped, "Who??"
"It doesn't matter..."
"C'mon, tell me!! I won't tell anybody but Miley!" Oliver gave her a look, "Ok, not even Miley! Please! Who?"
"I can't tell you!"
"But this is gonna drive me crazy!! Is it...Becca? Sarah? OH MY GOD, MILEY??"
"No!! Miley couldn't even go the dance."
"Oh, right...are you friends with her at all?"
"...You could say that."
"C'mon, Ollie, you know I'm gonna get it out of you sooner or later!! Tell me!"
"No."
"Tell me!!"
"No!!"
"Tell m--" Lilly couldn't even finish. Oliver had planted his soft, warm lips right on top of her glossy ones and kissed her exactly the way he'd always wanted to.
After a bit, she pushed him off, "Oliver! Stop kissing me and just te--oh, it's..." Lilly mouthed 'me' and Oliver nodded slowly, hoping he hadn't ruined their friendship forever.
"Eeeeep," Lilly squeaked to herself.
"Uh? Yeahh...what does that mea--" Then, it was Lilly's turn to surprise him with a kiss. She wrapped her arms around his neck and climbed onto his lip.
Miley gasped as she saw Oliver and Lilly making out on her porch and then smiled. She knew it would happen someday, anyway. Slowly and quietly, she backed away to get in her house through another door. They didn't even notice her.
Finally, Oliver and Lilly pulled away and laughed. They stood up and Oliver put his arm around her, "I'll walk you home."
The whole time, they joked and laughed. Nothing could bring them down tonight.
"This may just be the best night ever," Lilly said as they reached her house, "I love you."
"I love you too." Oliver whispered and kissed her, "And don't you forget it."
"Never."
