So this was written after reading Skye-Moonknight7913's Crimson Past, something about her version of Link's personality sparked this. :) Hope you all like it!

Its short so you don't have to suffer through the long crap that I write! XD

Nintendo owns all!

The cool moisture settled on his skin like the clammy touch of death... not surprising as the stench of decomposition polluted the air about a man dressed it a pure blue tunic laced with gold, spell incantation embroiders.

"You've reaturned." A whisper, the faint hiss of a snake, rolled from the fog coiling from a lone gnarled tree in the middle of a shallow liquid mirror.

"Aye." The blue clad man spoke and captured his own strong voice echo.

The rotting smell grew potent enough to provoke a gag from the elven eared man. "...have you come for a rematch?"

"No...no, old friend, I have not." A kind tone tinged the slightly raspy baritone while cobalt eyes watched as a long forgotten shadow melted from the shade of the gnarled tree. "How is it that you live, Shadow?"

It laughed and the sound was so unhuman, so like the vocal maifestation of evil, that is sent shivers down a spine that had not know fear in many years. "I am you...as long as you live..." A rattling in a chest that was coughed up to reveal clotted blood. "I am the black of night...where you are the Dawn."

"Have you been reciting poetry for all these years?" A cocky smirked slipped across the legendry face of the Hero of Time.

The laughed sounded. "Perhaps, o' Great Hero." The shadow shifted and left tendrils of smoke and ash behind which blackened the silvery water pooled beneath their boots. "Why are you here, Brother?"

"I?" The man chuckled then his face grew tight and composed, serious to the edge of tense. "I am here to be whole."

"Whole, Link?"

Link, the Hero of Time, nodded and for the first time the Shade noticed its Light counterpart bore nothing upon him but his clothes. "Oh, yes, Brother." There was no mockery in Link's voice and he took a step forward, sensing a pain in his right hand where his Triforce Symbol resided. It only burned when an essence of Evil was near.

"You cannot be the Hero of Time-"

"No." Link cut in, confidently, then took another step forward and ignored the red hot flame blossoming upon the back of his hand. "But I shall be whole...we shall be whole."

The sense of relief, gratitude, and happiness oozed from the Shade only inches from the Hero of Time. "Oh, truly? You would do this?"

"Of course, Brother. We are Soul mates, of course. I am missing a part of me...as you are." Link smile and extended a hand, the shadow doing the same, then touched his right index finger to the blackened one.

A shock erupted and rippled through the pair, threatening to take their breath. Death leaned over the pair, born from the stench of death about the two. Her red eyes glowed like the red coal intensity upon the back of Link's palm.

"Bring Darkness unto my heart." Link spoke, cobalt eyes staring defiantly into the heart of the Black Angel. He grasped his Shade's hand. "Give me my dark sins and let them sink into my soul...let my heart wither, as it should, from the innocence the Gods have given."

"Light shall never be the same." The Shadow spoke, worried, as the incantation the Hero spoke began to weave its magick.

Link smiled then as he felt his soul blacken and wither and die inside of him...as he finally felt complete. "Oh, but Light shines its brightest in the Dark."
