Chapter 1

Yesterday the government was in full force again searching everyone's houses and questioning people about their curfews. You might be asking what is happening to the city of New York but I'm asking the same questions. All I know (being not in the government and a questionable teenager) is that the 6th person in 2 months went missing yesterday morning. She was my best friend so I would know if she was planning on running away from here but she loves NYC and she tells me her biggest secrets so I would know. Wouldn't I? Well the police keeps questioning my whereabouts and almost every hour comes back with the same questions. It's like they are trying to catch me out but I don't know what happened. The 1st person who went missing was a year above me in high school, her name was Kate. We used to be friends but she became popular and left me behind in the drags of year 10. She was gorgeous too, blonde hair, tallish but not too tall and a smile that could light but NYC by itself. Everyone wanted to be her that's when the police suspected a kidnapper. I started off wanting to know what happened to her but I shortly realized my curiosity could get me into trouble so I stopped.

The 2nd person who went missing was Missy. She was in the same grade as me and we sometimes talked but not that often. She seemed to not have any friends and seemed like she hated everyone and everything. The police kept saying that she must have inflicted pain on herself and died. We had a funeral for her 2 weeks ago. She always wore black and hardly anyone turned up but I turned up. Even though we didn't have the best friendship I still called her my friend.

The 3rd and 4th people I didn't know so them going missing cause less of an effect on me. Although, I was still highly vulnerable from the last 2 missing people who were my friends. The police never stopped questioning me even though they could see I clearly hadn't done it. Their names were Chrystal and Matt. They looked to be in there late 20's. This time the government thought up a law constricting all people to be in their houses by 9:30p.m and anyone out later than this time would have some consequences and be questioned.

The 5th person was my father. Although, he didn't go missing. He was found in my parents' house on the bathroom floor... dead. The police just said that he must have hit his head and had a heart attack or stroke. They never looked into my father's death much. My mother and I were out of town that weekend and when we came back he was just lying there so we had no evidence. Although, this didn't stop the questioning. Why were they blaming me?

The 6th person was my best friend Hana. I met her through dance camp and we had an instant connection and we became instant best friends. We did everything together and we told each other secrets that we didn't tell anyone. They questioned me constantly about her going missing. It hurt that they thought it was me but I had to hold my head high and keep answering their questions. If I didn't they would suspect me?

The kidnapper or so they were calling this person one was still on the loose and we didn't know when he or she or it would strike again. The government put up barbed wire fence around the city and instead of curfew every light was turned off by a power switch that controlled every little light. Our phones had to be switched off and nothing was allowed outside. The government patrollers weren't even allowed outside and they had been let out in a tornado and typhoon that stuck NYC 2 years ago.
