Disclamer: I don't own Merlin
"Arthur I have magic." No turning back now, no regrets, just the hope that he would accept me for who I was. His face showed no emotion as he froze. It was only for a few seconds but they were the longest few seconds of my life.
"Show me!" he yelled after what seemed like a life time, his face, which once was emotionless, now filled with hurt, anger and betrayal.
Hesitantly, I muttered a quick spell and a ball of light whizzed round the room before disappearing just as quickly as it had appeared. Arthur pulled out his sword pointing it at my chest, with no sign of ever forgiving me for my "gift".
"Why Merlin?" he bellowed, his eyes throwing daggers. "Did you have to betray me like this? I thought I could trust you but you have turned out to be the same as Morgana, a treacherous, murderous sorcerer."
"You're wrong," I whispered, talking for the first time I had revealed my magic. Being put in the same category as Morgana had hurt me a lot. "I am a warlock not a sorcerer and although I may have lied to you, I would never betray you or Camelot. I hoped you would accept me for who I am, I thought you were ready to know, but obviously I was wrong."
After my short speech, Arthur lowered his sword a little, but still looked just as angry. I was scared about what was going to happen next, and when Arthur spoke his question threw me off guard.
"What's the difference?"
"What?"
"What's the difference between a warlock and a sorcerer?"
"A sorcerer chooses to practise magic, a warlock has no choice and they're born with it."
"I never knew someone could be born with magic," Arthur was beginning to sound more intrigued, than angry
"It's rare." I said simply, not in the mood for anymore outbursts after my speech a few minutes previous. I was still aware of the sword pointing at me.
Arthur finally gave in, slumping down in the nearest available seat, his sword clattering to the floor.
"What have you been using magic for over the past 4 years?" he asked me.
"I've been saving your life," I grinned, glad that I no longer had a sword pointing at my heart.
"Well start from the beginning then," he sighed slumping further into his seat and gesturing for me to sit down.
Then I began starting from when I pulled him out of the way of the dagger, to drinking the poison, to the event with the questing beast and me going to sacrifice my life for his. Then when I killed Sigan and saved him from the great dragon after becoming a dragonlord (best not tell him I released it yet). Then on to saving him on his quest into the perilous lands onto the most recent encounter with the immortal army.
By the time I'd finished I was in need of a glass of water.
"Despite doing all this stuff I'm not going to be able to completely trust you now." Arthur said.
"I know," I replied "just please don't hand me into to your father,"
"I won't," he said. I turned to leave before he said "Merlin," I turned, "I probably should be saying thank you." And as he smiled, I knew it would be better one day
