A hostage situation occurred this evening at 5PM local time at a Zakera Ward electronics shop named "Salancis Technology", a turian private-owned computing distributor.
A small band of mercenaries calling themselves 'New Epoch' smuggled themselves onto the Citadel via currently unknown means, and raided the shop, taking shopkeeper Arlice Salancis and 16 customers hostage – demanding 60,000 credits ransom. It is believed by Citadel Security that they may have been targeting a salarian diplomat that was frequenting the shop at the time.
An unknown salarian, possibly an STG operative, slipped behind C-Sec lines, broke into the shop and dispatched all the intruders personally, saving all the hostages. C-Sec officer Spartus Ciron spoke to CSN, saying "we were unable to interrogate to the individual , who was quickly led away by a Spectre. Though he said he in passing that had business with the diplomat."
Further details about the identity of this would-be hero are still unknown; nobody in C-Sec has otherwise commented on the matter.
