Unchanged
By: Vopi
Ages come and pass; rulers fade into memory.
Like flowers beneath the sky, they fall away.
The passing of generations remains a river unchanged
Its course ordained ages ago by providence.
As the unbroken line of humanity continues,
So do the troubles and conflicts brought with it.
Wherever choice is present; there the dilemma of good and evil abounds.
Where love and charity are absent; there the shadows of greed and hatred flourish.
Yet, just as the darkness begins to devour everything
The goddesses bring forth their champion.
A man bearing courage's blessing; a child of Farore.
With the blade of evil's bane and peerless valor,
The darkness succumbs to his righteous fury.
As the years pass, his legacy is lost to the wind,
And the tales of his deeds are inscribed among legends.
People quickly forget the horror that plagued them,
And evil rises again, crushing them with oppressive arms.
Though many seasons have passed, the spirit of the hero rises again.
Stirring the warrior deep inside yet another
He readies himself to meet the challenge put before him.
And thus, the Legend continues as it always has.
Just a short one-shot poem I felt inspired to write. The conflict between light and darkness is constant throughout Hyrule's history. In our own lives, we all have the potential to be a catalyst for one or the other. It all comes down to our priorities and the choices we make.
Let me know what you thought of the poem, and feel free to ask me any questions you have. If you liked this, you should check out my other project: Kasuto's Redemption.
