Chapter 1: Oh baby

Reyna tried to wrap her head around what she'd just heard. The brisk September air was hitting her back as she crossed the street. She opened the gate and cringed at the creaking sound it made and she briefly remembered that the lawn that needed mowing a month ago was dead. She checked the mailbox and ran her hand over the stamps on the envelopes before rummaging in her purse for her keys. The flowers also needed watering. She unlocked the front door and sighed when the warm air washed over her chilly bones.

"Reyna?" Reyna cringed as she toed off her shoes and shrugged off her jacket. He wasn't supposed to be home this early.

A familiar head of blond hair came into her line of vision. Jason leaned up against the doorframe and smirked. "Miss me?"

She snorted. "How come they let you out so early?"

His eyes were brimming with mirth. "Maybe I decided to leave because I missed my baby."

"Oh really?"

He sighed dramatically. "Okay my boss's wife went into labor." Jason looked at her more closely when he saw her expression. "Are you alright?"

"I'm pregnant," she blurted.

Jason choked. "What?"

"I'm pregnant," she repeated slower this time. "We're going to be parents."

His blond eyebrows shot up to his hairline. "Really?"

"Remember how I was feeling nauseous all week?" He nodded. "Well I went to the doctor for a physical and she ran some tests."

His expression was surprisingly thoughtful. "How far along are you?"

"Two months."

Jason had a far off look in his eyes. "Remember when we used to play house as kids? This is just like that."

Reyna unbraided her hair, a nervous habit of hers, and ran her fingers through it. "Except we're not married. Juno's going to kill us."

"No, she wouldn't. She's the protector of expectant mothers."

She looked at him pointedly. "She's also the goddess of marriage."

Jason shrugged. "I'll make sure she doesn't lay a hand on you."

Reyna eyed him warily. "You're taking this better than I expected. I expected you to be freaking out."

Jason gave her a goofy smile. "The love of my life is having my child. Sue me for being excited. I've always wanted to be a dad."

Reyna couldn't suppress the smile that was making its way onto her lips. "So we're going to be mom and dad from now on?"

"Yep." Jason popped the p. "You're going to be such a MILF."

For the first time in nearly a week, Reyna laughed. "Remember that when my calves are red and swollen and I can't go a day without vomiting and complaining about back pain."

Jason snorted and kissed the top of her head. "You'll still be hot, swollen calves and all." He could barely contain his excitement. "Do you want to tell everyone now or wait until you're showing a bit more?"

"The doctors recommended waiting until at least the first trimester is over to be on the safe side, but if you want to tell everyone you know go ahead."

"Now Percy's not going to be the only one bragging about how amazing his kid is." Jason warm fingers trailed over her flat stomach. "Little Josh here is going to be a star, I can tell."

"We are not naming our child Josh. I won't have it."

"You really won't get a say when I'm filling out the forms because you're high on epiduro." Reyna glared at him and he held up his palms in surrender. "Fine, fine. How about you name this one and I'll name the second one?"

Reyna turned her head so fast she had whiplash. "The next one? We're having more?"

Jason beamed and pulled her close. "Of course, darling."

Reyna raised an eyebrow. "I'm not sure the world can handle another Grace, much less multiple Graces."

"Well you need at least five members for a basketball team..."

Reyna rolled her eyes. "I can't believe I let you knock me up."

Jason kissed her softly. "I can't believe it either."

They'd figure this out. They always did.
