"Number 5 and 7 are wrong….."

Gajeel whipped his head around from his desk where he was doing his math homework that he was supposed to do over the summer break but didn't bother to. He could never forget that voice no matter how long it had been. His eyes met the figure of a petit girl with blue hair and dark hazel eyes.

"Shrimp….. It's been a while" Gajeel said in his usual gruff voice.

It had been three years since Gajeel had seen his old friend, Levy McGarden, and even though he would never admit to it, he often thought about her and what she was doing. He had met her in the 2nd grade at Jr. Fairy Elementary school. He was in her class but had never thought about her before, to him she was just another bookworm in the class and he was a delinquent. Gajeel had never given her a second thought since they were basically polar opposites, but as he turned a corner in the hallway one day to see her getting shoved into a nearby locker, he had to help. Levy stood there in aww as she watched Gajeel shove the bullies into the wall and beat them up.

From that day on Gajeel was like a hero in Levy's eyes, and as much as Gajeel tried to keep her away, Levy stuck to him like glue. They became accustomed to always being by each other's side, but when it was time to graduate to middle school, they were forced to go their separate ways when Levy's mom made her go to an elite private middle school she got an academic scholarship for.

It wasn't all bad for them though, Levy had learned to make friends at her new school. That was when she met her best friend, the blonde and beautiful, Lucy Hearfilia and the boys who became attached to her after she helped tutor them, Jet and Droy.

Even Gajeel had made some new friends. After getting in a fight with them behind the school, Gajeel had soon become part of the group of friends that contained the hot headed Natsu Dragneel, the cool stripper Gray Fullbuster, and the scary one who broke up the fight Erza Scarlet.

And so, after three years of middle school, Gajeel and Levy finally got to meet again at Fairy Tail Academy.

Levy was looking straight at Gajeel with the biggest and brightest smile she had as was practically glowing with joy. Gajeel just looked at her with his usual smirk also secretly happy to have her by his side again- he still would never admit it out loud.

"Don't worry shrimp, its only two problems, it's not like I'm gonna fail. Even if I did, it's not like I care" Gajeel tried to convince Levy as she was trying to help him work out the problems the right way.

"Fine…. And I told you to stop calling me that" Levy agreed, a little unsatisfied that he just those problems stay like that, but nothing could kill her happy mood. She was finally able to be with all of her friends, including Lucy, Jet, and Droy who came with her to Fairy Tail Academy. She was also excited to meet Natsu, Gray, and Erza who also came to Fairy Tail Academy from Gajeel's middle school.

"We have a lot to catch up on, don't we Gajeel" Levy said reminded of the 3 years she was apart from her first best friend.

"Yah" Gajeel replied knowing they would probably have a lot to talk about. But he was secretly glad to have his childhood friend back at his side. Maybe a little too Glad.
