I'm a rather new member and a long time lurker. I finally joined due to the fact that this website is so much more functional than CBS's, and I need some help. I am a Fanfiction addict. I am looking for a fic that I read forever ago. I can remember the general plot line but not the author or title. And I was wondering if anyone could help me out. The basic plot is that after the tragedy which is Sara's DUI she finds a diversion at a battered women's shelter. She keeps this a secret from her colleagues but is exposed when an article about the center is released and features a picture of Sara. During a fund raiser for the shelter she meets the cop who puked his guts out at her father's murder scene. She struggles through many tragic epiphanies. Including the fact that she can not really help the victims they are beyond help. She realizes this after working on the case of an abused woman. Although Grissom forbids her from going to see the body she, in typical Sara fashion, defies his wishes. This story was great and I would really like to read it again so if anyone has any suggestions as to the name or author I would be extremely grateful! I have been looking for this story for over a month so any suggestions are welcomed.
