A quick oneshot I thought of. I always wondered what it would be like in Snowkit's head, so I dove in and wrote. Sorry it's so short, but I think it's just enough to capture the meaning.

As a young kit, all I wanted to do was jump and play. When I was first born, all the cats around me kept opening and closing their mouths.

Over and over.

I didn't understand. All the cats seemed to know what to do but I didn't. I just did what I did. The one who smells like me is always around. She's nice. We sleep in the same moss, and play in it to. It's fun. She jumps, rolls, and opens and closes her mouth.

Over and over.

When she jumps and rolls, I think she's trying to show me something. But I don't know. She never makes words, ever. Just opens and closes her mouth.

Over and over.

The other day, we were in the clearing. The fiery cat watched me and her. She took this long green plant and we played with it! It was a lot of fun, and I just held it and rolled and she pulled! I saw the fiery cat with the blue-grey one, and the two of them opened and closed their mouths.

Over and over.

Sometimes I close my eyes and open them again. Does that count? Anyway, the one who smells like me took me outside. She kept crouching and walking forward. I didn't understand. Why didn't she stay still? I don't know if she tried to explain. All she did was open and close her mouth.

Over and over.

But one day, I went outside on my own. She didn't come out of the sleeping place like she usually does. Most of the time she's with me, so I want to be on my own! I'm independent. I was playing around in the dust, when all of a sudden, I feel pain in my back. A huge shadow appears above me, and I feel my fur waving. The ground below me gets smaller and smaller and smaller, and there's none beneath my paws. I opened my mouth, desperate for the one who smells like me to help. She always helps me! Where is she?! Down below, I realise. Many of the others come out of the dens. And as she stares up at me, I just look down. At all of them opening and closing their mouths.

Over and over.
