The Shadow of the Day
Summary: Katherine Sanders (niece to Niki and cousin to Micah) is just a normal girl with an extraordinary talent: When she asks someone a question, they can't lie. When she meets Gabriel Gray, who has made himself on lies, she begins to slowly dismantle all his defenses and tragically makes him feel. Sylar isn't used to feeling anything, and when he begins to, things turn hazardous very quickly.
Takes place right about the time of the Season Two opener. I started this over the summer before Season Two, and just kept going.

Intro/Chapter One: Honestly
My name's Kitty. Don't even try to makes a dumb joke about it, either. Real name's Katherine, but I hate it. I can do things. When I was five, I asked my mother if Santa existed. She said no. Same thing about the Easter Bunny. She wasn't a bad parent; she just told the truth. She had to.
See, I can make people honest. Anyone around me. If I ask a question, they -somehow- have to be honest. It gets pretty annoying. When you're depressed, the last thing you wanna hear from anyone is that things won't get any better. So I stopped asking questions.
Zak thinks I'm weird. He's also cheating on me (I think). I'm scared to ask.
My brother Rider had the same talent. We were twins. He died in a car crash two years ago. My parents are dead, too. Their plane crashed over the Atlantic when I was sixteen. I went to live with a friend until I turned eighteen. Now, I'm going to New York City to live with my aunt and cousin. Zak lives across the Jersey border, so he'll come visit me. Niki (my aunt) knows about me. My mom told her when Rider and I were little.
I hope things'll go better in NYC than they did in LA. I would ask Niki about it, but then she'd give me an honest answer. Which is the last thing I need.
