Why Sherry Doesn't Use a Gun

SUMMARY: Have you ever wondered why, in Resident Evil 2, Sherry didn't pick up a gun? She is thirteen in the game…So why not?

Sherry was staring with such intensity at Claire's handgun that it almost made the Redfield twitch in surprise.
"What is it, Sherry?"
"Nothing…" She looked at the ground, then back at the firearm. "Wait…Can I try…"
Claire blinked then realized what the blonde wanted—she wanted to try to use the handgun! A smile was instantly on her lips. "Sure—let's find a zombie for you to shoot." They walked through the sewers and soon came upon a lone zombie—looks like the keeper of one of the medals was infected and had decided to wake up.
"All right…" He had a twisted ankle so he was much slower at shambling towards them than a regular zombie. Claire handed Sherry her handgun and simply said, "Okay, just point and shoot. Have you ever used a squirt gun?"
The blonde nodded, holding the gun a little cautiously. She was incredibly petite for her age—thirteen! Perhaps she would have a growth spurt soon…Claire shook her head of that, and then watched as Sherry aimed, then pulled the trigger.
BANG!
"Oww!"
If Claire could sweat-drop, as she had seen characters in anime do, she would have. She could only stare as Sherry held and rubbed her face, glaring daggers at the handgun.
"…Maybe you should just stick to running away…" Claire said slowly, and Sherry agreed in a huff as the older female killed the zombie.
K.L.K- (laughing)
Sherry-…That hurt…(has a red mark on her face) I'm glad it didn't hit my nose.
Claire-…(quivering lips) T-that's…okay…just don't try that again, okay?
Sherry- I won't.
Claire- (giggles)
Sherry- Well…it was funny…(smiles)
