He was gone. Despite all her brave words, she knew that it was true. She had seen him disappear, after all.
It wasn't fair. She had just woken up!
And there you are, standing in the unfamiliar (yet agonizingly familiar) room, flanked by an oversized duck and dog you have never met before. The only light in the room comes from the wires and the giant keyhole flickering over your head. Broken wiring crackle and hiss; you can just faintly hear the breathing of the girls in their respective glass coffins. The room is bone-chillingly cold, and you shiver in your island clothes.
You hardly notice any of that, however. Burned into your mind is the image of one of your best friends—of Sora— melting into a flurry of white lights. But surely it isn't true? It can't be true. If you wish hard enough, can't you undo it? Wasn't that how the fairytales always went? Maybe it would work if you got the dog and the duck to help, too.
You fleetingly wonder how Sora knows them.
But it doesn't matter. Later, when you get him back (you will get him back, you have to), he can tell you the story. You'll even let him brag a little, and you won't call him a lazy bum ever again, promise. In fact, you'll even make him a bracelet of thalassa shells when you both go home, one that matches your necklace. No, wait; you'll do something even better.
You'll give him your lucky charm.
Right now, it doesn't really matter to you that you're not on Destiny Islands. You don't realize that you don't know what's going on, or what Sora or you or Riku have to do with all of this. You just want your friends back. After you get Sora back, you both can go together and find Riku, too. Or maybe Sora already knows where Riku is.
But you're about to find out.
So you have awakened at last, Princess. The Keyhole is now complete. You have served your purpose. But now it's over.
You won't use me for this!
You absolutely refuse to believe that Riku is lost to you, too, (where did the 'too' come from?) so you just nod and do what he says. After all, Riku could always take care of himself, and it's not as though you could have done anything. When you find Sora, he'll do something.
But still, as you run away, you can feel the tears slipping down your cheeks. You're so afraid now that maybe fairytales don't come true, and they don't always reach the happily-ever-after. And you wonder, what if you can't bring them back?
To this, at least, you know the answer.
Random Kairi-ness. :3
Nothing belongs to me.
Oh, and the second person? First attempt. I blame...hm...Zanisha, ninja-butterfliie, and Alexial R. They are all awesome at it.
