My dearest Reader,
I presently write this fore note to inform you of the content of the transcripts which you have stumbled upon. These have been collected over a period of time which is remembered with much distress from within the walls of Camelot. While in its simplest form this is a composition of research over a given time, or perhaps as some might call it - a journal of science; I also feel it is an accurate representation of the happenings at the time.
Camelot has been housed with a surprisingly high volume of literate commoners, which is invaluable to this collection. These papers include some of the less noteworthy research conducted by Gaius the court physician who worked in under the reign King Uther Pendragon, subsequently King Arthur Pendragon. Commoners and nobles alike have documented the results of new medicines tested on them for a number of ailments, but the end result was a fair more detailed account of all events during the course of their treatment than Camelot is ever likely to see again.
A simplified collection of these medical findings along with some more recognised discoveries can be easily located within the library of any Nobles' house in Camelot and some across the borders. Gaius insisted that it be duplicated by a scribe and distributed for the furthering of common knowledge. This particular collection you have in your possession presently is distinct. It is likely the only copy that will ever exist. There are a number of reasons you may have gotten your hands on this book including, but not limited to,
-My death due to illness and/or old age, you are sorting through my possessions- I sincerely apologise if the contents of this offend you.
-A compulsory search of all books in the Library of Camelot Castle, in which case I will probably be turned to the relevant level of authority for having produced such a book and kept its contents secret.
-There has been a significant change in the law which leaves my conscience clear for airing out the details behind the events which you shall soon read.
It is with these in mind that I kindly request when you have finished reading this document that you think; really consider what any action against myself and the other- unknowing co-authors will achieve. When you have finished that level of thought I hope your decision is to do nothing. I would also request that you bear another fact in mind. In Gaius' old age he became somewhat batty, therefor not one of these experiments should be repeated, for all of the treatments which were tested had undesirable side effect.
Yours Faithfully
Geoffry, Camelot Librarian
Hello Readers!
This story has been flitting around the thought process for over a year, and I have finally decided that it isn't going to write itself. I welcome extremely critical reviews (no flames) detailing anything and everything i can do to improve- down to the location of the punctuation. This is based in the vague timeset of series 3/series 4, not pinned down to any episode but Morgana is evil, Lancelot is still alive and Gwen is too busy to try and buy clothes which might... fit the somewhat more shapely physique the producers of the show were keen for her to display...
I don't own Merlin but I do love playing around with the characters. I hope nothing i write is of any offence to anyone (though I doubt it will be).
Read, Review and Enjoy
