No one understood why Jazz had done it. Why give Prowl a fish? Prowl certainly didn't seem the type to care for another living being. Hell, most bots thought he was cold and aloof.
But Jazz knew things about Prowl that others didn't. That Prowl knew how the others felt and it hurt him deeply. He just couldn't show it as he had to keep emotions apart.
Emotions are a burden when you have to put friends and lovers into the battlefield every waking moment of your life.
Jazz also knew that Prowl had needed someone to confide in that wasn't him. And so Jazz had gone with Spike to the local pet store and looked for something. Anything that might appeal to his lover.
He looked at Hamsters (too timid) He looked at snakes (to crawly) He looked at the cats. (Too much like Ravage) Dogs (too much work)
Finally he looked at the fish...that would be something simple. And they really were quite relaxing to look at.
And so Jazz bought Prowl a fish. A simple blue betta. And to everyone's surprise, Prowl accepted it, thanking Jazz and taking it into his office along with all the needed supplies.
And maybe after that day, Prowl wasn't quite as cold and aloof. Sure he still kept his distance, but the fish gave the others something to talk about that wasn't about war...and if Prowl was happy, Jazz was happy. And that's all that really matters, isn't it?
