Yay!My first story...Please enjoy.bows

"Nii-san! Nii-san!"came the cry of a ten year old Alphonse running through the house in search of his beloved brother.

He checked every room.

He searched through every corner.

He even looked for him underneath the furniture.

At last, an exhausted Alphonse pushed open the door to the library to find his older brother absorbed in his reading material. Nothing could reach him now that he was like that. With a sigh, Alphonse resigned himself to the bright world outside. After all, there was no one to play with...

Alphonse lay content in the grass, getting drowsier by the minute. His eyes grew heavy and he drifted to sleep.

"ey...hey..."

–––––

Alphonse opened his eyes slowly, blinking a few times. A girl was bending over him, close enough that her pigtails were tickling his nose. "Are you awake now? Come play with me!" she said pulling him up from the ground. Alphonse and the girl came face to face, and if he had to guess her age then they would probably be the same age. "What?" she asked as he looked at her dumbfounded. He didn't know anyone his age lived near him. "What's your name Spacey?" the girl smiled as Alphonse snapped out of his trance.

"A-Alphonse."

"Well Alphonse, looks like you're my new friend!" she said, tugging at his sleeve in the direction of the large tree that towered over them. "Let's play hide and seek! Count to ten and I'll hide."

In time, the sky was turning a shade of gold and pink.

"I won Al! I won!" she giggled, running circles around him.

Alphonse laughed as she fell down. He gave her his hand as he asked her. "Will you be here tomorrow?"

"Only if you're here." she answered when he nodded his head. Then she held out her pinky to him. "You promise?"

"I promise." Alphonse vowed. She took a step towards him and gave him a peck on the cheek and then she turned to go. Alphonse stood there dazed and blushing. Then he realized something important. "Wait! I don't know your name!"

The girl smiled and giggled,"Silly! It's–"

"...l! Hey Al!"Alphonse looked at his older brother who had been impatiently calling his name. He turned away from the train's window that he had just been watching. Edward, his older brother began reprimanding him for his lack of attention to his surroundings. "C'mon Al! You gotta pay more attention! This is our stop." Edward got up from his seat to exit the train, followed by his younger brother who was careful not to bump into the ceiling.

After all these years, I still remember her.
