Anthem for Fanfiction Writers
To share our joys and sorrows
To find another place
To publish our thoughts and memoirs
That the publishers would not give a glance.
To feel a sense of belonging
To forge a new identity
To get to know others; and yet not know them
In a world where our networks have diminished.
To adopt another family
With no less passion.
To share in its sins and virtues
And forge its future together.
This is what it means to be a fanfiction writer
This is what it means to be free;
To embrace the trinity: Creativity, Community and Canon
That is what we fanfic writers do!
A/N: I did not include a disclaimer for this poem because the turtles don't really feature in it. OK they were alluded to in the third stanza, but there are no direct references to them.
Now, I really must get back to doing my essays. Why is it that the more you try to concentrate on your homework, the more the plot bunnies start bugging you? lol
