There was only one person who could take her pain away.
He was the man she had loved since she had first laid eyes on him. He wasn't really a childhood friend; he was just another classmate. Despite that, she admired him from afar. He was more than a classmate, he was reminder that even when the odds are stacked against you, you can still succeed. She wanted so badly to be like him, but she felt as though she was just a useless piece of trash in everyone's life. Her father found her to be useless. Her family treated her as if she had no competence, her cousin, who was supposed to be a brother, hated her with all his might for situations she could not help. Hinata Hyuga was a sad, weak girl back then.
If it hadn't been for her beloved, Naruto Uzumaki, she probably would have died long ago on a mission of some sort. Naruto encouraged her to grow, as she encouraged him to keep going even if he fails, though she didn't really see that conversation as much. Little did Hinata know, she had helped Naruto more than she could ever possibly know. By then, everyone was nearly aware that she had some sort of feelings towards the boy who housed the fox. They all noticed a change in her because of him. The girl whom they had watched dwindle away, suddenly began to bloom on her own terms.
When Naruto faced certain death, and no one felt as if they had the strength to save a fellow comrade whom they had all simultaneously bullied at one point, the one person who had never had a fowl thought towards Naruto Uzumaki stepped in. She was willing to give her life for his, to show that all of his hard work had gained the admiration and love from a fellow villager. She was one of the first people in the Hidden Leaf to see him as a person and now that everyone sees him, her small sacrifice would benefit the entire village and Naruto, and so she made it. Luckily, she survived.
After those events, the two began taking turns when it came to helping one another almost subconsciously. When her movements weren't fast enough, he was there to protect her. When he had finally lost all hope, she was there to save him once again. All throughout the Great Shinobi War, they were there for eachother along with their comrades.
Now, Naruto was here for Hinata again. As she inhaled and exhaled in the sterile room; As her entire body ached with an indescribable pain; As her legs were spread while she was pushing; he was there for her; He was admiring her; He began to see her as even more of a spectacular human being; He began to feel even more grateful for all she had done for him in their shared past.
Her grip on his hand suddenly became loose, and their fingers intertwined as a small cry broke out into the room.
As they laid the newborn over Hinata's chest, and tears from both of their eyes silently fell, he reminded himself that he would never let go of that hand.
Hinata squeezed his hand a bit, and with a breathtaking smile she whispered, "Thank you. It didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would."
A/N: Sorry, if it seems "drabblely." It started off as just a drabble. I hoped you enjoyed!
