DISCLAIMER: I do not own Pirates of the Caribbean. If I did, Will and Elizabeth (and William Turner III) would be in Stranger's Tides.

A/N: So, we all know that Will and Elizabeth were supposed to get married but when did it become official? R&R!

Will Turner shifted uncomfortably in his seat. He was sitting with men who were many classes above him who all no doubt, were itching to have a good grope at Elizabeth, seeing as she wasn't formally engaged yet. He grimaced as the butler arrived to take away the food. Underneath the table, he curled his hand into a clenched fist. The soldier across the table had his eyes fixed on Elizabeth. Elizabeth saw Will's glare at the soldier and put a restraining hand over his. He was slightly startled and looked over to her. She gave him one of their private 'looks' which meant 'it's okay. Calm down.' He was relieved when the dinner finally ended two hours later.

In the smithy, Will kicked the wall. He didn't know why he couldn't do it. It had never been the right time. But until he actually asked her the question, along with the ring that had been loose in his pocket for weeks now, he and Elizabeth were just in love...not engaged. He turned back to the sword he was working on, picked it up with the tongs and plunged into the icy cold water, causing a hiss and steam to fill the room. He was used to it by now but still coughed, covering his face with his arm.

'William!' his master called from the door. Will navigated through the steam and found the older man.

'A note for you.'

Will took the note and couldn't help but smile at who it was from. He'd recognise her handwriting anywhere.

Will, meet me at the cover near the docks. Father gave us permission. Lizzie.

Will grinned and shoved the tongs into his master's hand and ran out of the door, grabbing his jacket along the way. He made it to the cove and looked around. Noone was in sight. He frowned. Had this been a set up? His worries vanished when two hands slipped over his eyes. 'Evening,' a cheeky voice said. Will gently brought her hands away from his eyes and turned. Elizabeth was standing before him, her beautiful, honey golden hair flowing down her shoulders. 'Are you okay?' she asked anxiously. Will looked down. 'Elizabeth...' he sighed. Elizabeth grabbed his arm, pulling him over to the sea that was lapping at the rocks. 'Will, what's going on? Is everything okay?'

Will looked up at the gorgeous face before him. 'It's nothing, love.'

Elizabeth opened her mouth to protest but Will put a finger to her lips. 'It's nothing,' he assured her. Her face broke into a smile and she suddenly gave Will a soft push and he tumbled into the sea. He grabbed her arm just before he fell and seconds later, she fell beside him, both of them laughing. Will brought a hand up to her cheek. 'Why did you pick me?'

Elizabeth sat up. 'What?'

'Why did you choose me, Elizabeth? You could have married a rich, classy, well known man like Norrington who could give you so much more than I. Why did you choose me?'

Elizabeth smiled. 'Because you were the man who saved me from immortal, skeletal pirates. You were the man who admitted he loved me and then ran off to save Jack. You were the twelve year old boy I found in the sea who has been my friend for eight years. You're the man I love.'

Suddenly, Will knew. He sat up and reached into his pocket...
