Alexandra Brown ran. She ran as fast as her legs would carry her. And no matter how fast she tried to run, she didn't get anywhere. But she kept trying anyway. Because she knew this nightmare. And she was determined not to go through it again.

Alex's eyes popped open and stared at a white ceiling. It took her a few moments to recollect her thoughts. Wait a second…… I'm safe! She thought to herself. It is NOT gonna happen again… I hope. So she got up and went to her dresser to get ready for her day. She put on her favorite outfit, jeans, a rainbow tie-dye T-shirt, and her trusty old sneakers. Just as she started to brush her chocolate-brown hair, Sunny, her white Labrador, came in wagging his tail expectedly. "Hey boy," Alex called, "wanna go for a walk?" "Woof!" I'll take that as a yes.

"Come on!" she said as she slid down the golden-brown railing as Sunny ran down the stairs. "Beat ya!" Alex said, grabbing his leash. As she walked outside, she noticed it was a cloudy, moist Saturday morning, as usual in Mobile, Alabama. As they walked, her mind wandered endlessly in maze full of confusion. What am I to do? If this dream keeps reoccurring, I'm bound to go crazy! She thought. But then, as if reading her thoughts, Sunny rubbed up against her leg, wagging his tail. With a smile, she reached down to pet him. He always had a way of making her feel better. "Let's go home," she said.

As they walked up her porch steps, she had a strange fear. She froze in her tracks, unable to move. What if it's behind that door? What if it comes after me? What if- STOP IT ALEX! YOU'RE DRIVING YOURSELF INSANE! GO INSIDE ALREADY! She thought. So Alex reached for the door, slowly and steadily. Just do it already! So she grabbed the door and slammed it open.
